Musings on the uncertainty of life in verse. I may not be right, but I may not be wrong either. I hope you enjoy the poem. (copyright © Kait Weir)
In the due course of time
I shall inevitably find myself in a place
That I could never perceive
With any kind of certainty
Because control is an illusion
That opens doors for expectations
Of what we come to believe
Is the predictable future.
But,
No matter how much we grapple with time,
We never really have any kind of control over where we will end up,
Because anything can happen,
Any place,
Any time,
Anywhere.
This is the incomprehensible,
Wonderful,
Disastrous truth
That walks hand in hand with people.
People
Make decisions,
Some big,
Some small,
That intentionally and unintentionally
Accumulate
To shape each other’s lives
As well as their own.
The fragility of life,
And where our lives will lead,
Is the only true certainty;
The only true solidity.
Whether or not we choose to accept- to acknowledge-this,
Is possibly the biggest decision we can make as people,
And also the decision that so often we make
without conscious choice.
