My mom was in a hurry to get to work, so when she got me from school she dropped me off at home. She left directly after she dropped me off, she said she would be back in a couple of hours. I went to lay down in bed, until I heard a squeaking noise, it was like a mouse. I started looking for what was making the noise, when I looked in the backyard, I saw a girl. She was wearing a red and black flannel, with jeans and boots. If her hair weren't down, you'd think she were a boy.

She was on the most noisy swing there was in all 3 swings that were in the park. She was going as high as you ever could on a swing, I was kind of nervous, if she were to fall. I decided to go outside and talk to her. This is the dumbest thing ever, I thought, still walking towards her. When I was almost right next to her she was kind of surprised, like she had never talked to anyone before. She started to slow the swing down, just looking at the ground the whole time. When she finally stopped the swing, she asked, "why are you here? There are never kids here at this time of day." I answered as plainly as I could, "I wasn't feeling well so I came home, and I heard you swinging so I wanted to say 'hi'."

"So, hi?" she said still looking at the ground.

"You looked really happy when you were high in the air," I say, looking at her pretty brown hair.

"I can see the whole world from up there," she whispered.

I tried to look over the wooden fence that blocked the view that she was talking about, but couldn't manage with my short legs. I wanted to ask her questions, but that would mean I had to talk more, to people that I don't even know. Well my mom did say, "Never talk to strangers."

"My name is Matt, Matt Jones. I just moved in over there." I say pointing at my house.

"I'm... Abby." She said kind of shy.

"Do we go to the same school? I go to Meadows?"

"I don't really go to school?"

"Your parents don't make you go to school?"

"They want me to go, but I like to swing more than go to school all day," she said back.

"We have recess that lets us swing whenever we want, well during that time of course."

"Fine, I'll go tomorrow and you can show me this swing that is so special. What class are you in?"

I said, "Fine," then we said our good-byes. Now it's time to sleep and get better, so I can show her who's boss.
