He's more Human Than You Think

Introducing David 8

All I could see was Darkness but I couldn't move or reach out to touch it. I felt like I wanted to explode. I couldn't remember anything. Wait, I remembered my name. Kyla...Storm! Yes that's it. I'm on a space ship. Prometheus! My brain started rushing. Why was I not asleep? Was I awake? Why couldn't I move? Suddenly a bright light hit my eyes. I shut them tight from the pain.

"She's early." I heard a voice say. I shot up. My back cracked in the process.

"Miss Storm?" The voice said. I looked to my side opening my eyes to see a man with light blonde hair and warm eyes.

"Yes, that's me." I say. I put my head in my hands. It's painful but not as bad as the promos said it was.

"Don't worry that's just the shock." He said, rubbing my back. "I'm David."

"The android?" I asked.

"Yes, how did you know?"

"I'm an engineer, of course I know." I reply sarcastically. He chuckles lightly. "Where is everyone else?"

"You are 2 months early." He said. "Don't worry, though. There's plenty of food and water for you."

"Ok, so what do I do from now?" I ask.

"Whatever you like." David smiles and walks off down through the hall. I realise I was just in a bra and pants. I blush but why? He was just an android. I walk down the hall to find the bags - I retrieve both of mine. I was the only crew member to bring two bags. I hardly brought any clothes. It was my books mostly. Been a linguist, I love reading and examing literature. It's a past time which takes up most of my time.

I put on Lost To Trying by Son Lux. It was song from an old film called Paper Towns, I own that book. It's amazing. I look around my room and I deciede there's no where comfortable to sit. I walk down the hall to where all the spare pillows are and grab them all. No one else needs them for now so what's the harm in taking them? I walk back to my room where I make my reading spot. Right in the corner next to the wardrobe is my choice. It's warm and cosy.

I realise then how hungry I was. I hadn't noticed until now and the feeling of emptyiness in my stomach. I walked into the dinning area. I saw the food machines and selected a full english breakfast. I scoffed it down as well as my drink. I saw David come in. He sat oposite me.

"Hello." He said, quite simply.

"Hey." I answered.

"How are you?" He asks. He looks directly in my eyes. His look so real and full of life. It's strange because he has no soul or life.

"I'm better now I've had food." I chuckled.

 "Good, would you like me to put your music on in here?" He asks.

"Yes please." I say mouth half full of bacon. The song comes on and I sway my head. I always loved music but persued other ambitions. My foot was tapping on the floor.

"Would you like to dance with me?" David asks, his smile melting my soul into mush.

"Ok." I stand up and he puts his arms on my waist and I put my around his neck. He begins to sway to the music and I follow him. He seemed so real. So alive. Right in that moment I could've sworn I was dancing with a real man. Maybe he was real but how could an android develop a soul? Does he even have the coding for that? Maybe it's a side effect of creating suistainble life. As we dance, I feel a warmth spreading everywhere. We locked eye sight and I just stared into his eyes and him into mine. It was magical. Before I know it we are leaning in slowly at first but quicker as we both couldn't wait. Our lips connected and moved in a wonderful rythmn. His lips were soft and smooth and were warm. He picked me up so my feet were off the floor. I could hear the song change to The Moth And The Flame by Les Deux Love Orchestra.
