"Baby, why are you biting your nails?"
The little boy shrugged. "I dont know, mama."
"Well.." She hummed. "Is it because your nervous?"
The little boy slowly nodded as he put his head down.
"Its okay to be nervous, baby."
"Okay, mother..."
That was honestly the last time I remember talking to my mother. I remember biting my nails then, when she was dying on her bed. I was so nervous that my nails bled, I was a kid, of course. I was afraid of losing my mother. I was afraid of losing everything.
It was so funny how calm she seemed, when she knew that those were her last moments. She knew very well that the air she breathed were to be her last, she knew very well that that was going to be our last conversation.
I dont even remember her saying good bye to me- I was just dragged outside by my father. She suddenly shaked and- and... she became so pale, and she choked. I remember how much my father's grip on my wrist hurt.
My mother died that day. And.. biting my nails, every time I bite my nails, or when Im just nervous. She always comes to my mind. It haunts me. I get to see her on her death bed every time I feel something horrible.
"Mother," Yoongi whispers, he stood before his mother's grave. He had a bouquet of white roses in his hand, and his phone was in his other. "Happy birthday."
He kneeled before her, putting the bouquet down on his mother's tomb stone. He brushed the dirt off of it, it was beginning to become dirty again. Grass was covering most of it, there was sandy soil on it.
"So, mother." He sighed, sitting in a lotus position. "Life has been good. My job's good, I've already payed dad's funeral funds... Have you met him up there? I hope the two of you are happy." He smiled at the tomb stone, leaning back on his palms.
"And, still, Im lonely as a rock. Its okay though- I love the silence." He chuckles, "I remember you telling me to talk to those other kids as I was playing on the swings."
"You know, mom, I might be g-" He was cut off by his phone ringing. He looked at his screen, it was an unknown number. "Hm?"
He answered it out off curiosity, "Hello?"
"Hyung! Look behind you." A cheerful voice said before hanging up.
Yoongi blinked, then he turned around. His eyes enlarged, he saw a boy standing in the distance. Smiling at him.
"Shit, its Jungkook." He trails off. He stood up and sprinted to the boy. A smile creeped up on his face, he was seemingly happy.
The boy, who stood before him now, was his long time crush. It was Jungkook, his friend since 3rd year high school. And he was his crush since then. Jungkook smiled at the older, oh, how much Yoongi missed that bunny smile of his.
"Hey, Hyung." Jungkook says in his beautiful voice. He flipped his hair to the side because it was getting to his eyes. He dyed it hazel, last time it was honey. His eyes seemed to be big, for some reason, it was dilated.
"Hey, you." Yoongi smiled back, his gums were shown. "What are you doing here?" He asked the younger, hitting his shoulder lightly. "Visiting?"
"Yeah. I was visiting my brother," Jungkook looked somewhere. Then his eyes returned to Yoongi, "You?" He looked at the tomb Yoongi talked to. "Oh..."
"Yeah, my mother. Geez, how have you been?" Yoongi asks, his eyes piercing into Jungkook's soul. He always talkef to Jungkook like that, it was as if Jungkook was going to melt.
This caused Jungkook to get flustered easily, he would often look away because it sometimes gets hard for him to breathe. Somehow. Yoongi's gaze kept him from staying calm.
"I've been fine. Ever since college graduation- Ive been fine." Jungkook pouted his lips. "Ah, I hate you, Hyung." Jungkook looked at Yoongi, and Yoongi's expression turns clueless. "You didnt visit me after you graduated high school, youre so cruel, hyung."
"Ah," he breathed out. "Fuck you! Dont scare me." He sighed. "Im so sorry, Jungkookie. After graduating, I spent time abroad with my father. I just returned here after graduating college."
"That so?" Jungkook hums, "Also," he trailed off. "How are you?"
"Oh? Me?" Yoongi pointed at himself. "Well, everything's been okay so, Im okay too." He smiled and pinched Jungkook's cheek, "You asshole, why are you not talking to me with honorifics? I am your hyung."
"Ah, sorry hyung-nim." Jungkook laughs, "Please forgive me, hyung-nim~" He rubbed his hands together and bowed his head in a teasing way. "Aish, hyung-nim is still so short."
"Bastard." Yoongi elbows Jungkook's stomach. "Im not short, you're just so tall." He huffed. "Fuck you."
"Oh, me? I thought I'd top." Jungkook joked.
"Shut up!!" Yoongi punched Jungkook's chest, "Right in front of mom- Jungkook!" He punched him again. Jungkook shamelessly began to laugh but then he quiets down in a second.
"Sorry," he apologized and walked to Mrs. Min's tomb. "Hi, auntie!" He smiled at the tomb and kneeled down, "Dont worry, I'll watch over Hyung-nim for you. Please, rest in peace."
Yoongi stayed in place and watched Jungkook cluelessly. As Jungkook stood up, he walked back to Yoongi and threw his arm over his shoulder.
"Hyung."
The older looks up at the younger, he tilted his head and hummed in answer.
"Lets hang out." Jungkook began to walk, Yoongi followed his steps. Right, left, right, left... Then an awkward silence started.
Yoongi had an urge to bite his nails, to bite off his cuticles. Yoongi's hands began to sweat, the silence made him nervous. Where were they going? What are they going to do?
Yoongi looked at the hand that was put on his shoulder, Jungkook's veiny hand. His fingers were long and slim, his nails were neat. He probably had them done- but something caught Yoongi's eyes.
Jungkook's thumb had a scar, specifically on his nail. It looked like a bite mark- it looked like the ones Yoongi had on his nails. It seemed to be healing.
"Wanna go to a café? My treat- there's this new one near by." The youger one spoke and removed his arm over the other, he took his car keys from his pocket.
"Okay," Yoongi agreed. "I didnt know that you drive. Sweet ride." Yoongi said after Jungkook clicked on a button and made his car sound.
"Well, we weren't communicating." Jungkook says, "Get in."
