Jade:
Jade Amelia Thirlwall stood in front of her locker door, her eyes skimming the shelves, trying to find her music folder.
"Jade!" Her best friend, Leigh-Anne Pinnock called.
Jade fixed her glasses and looked at Leigh-Anne. "Hey!" She replied.
Leigh-Anne smiled, "You coming to class? It's about to start."
Jade nodded, "I can't find my folder, though."
Leigh-Anne pulled a face that said you're so screwed if you don't find.
"Yes, Leigh." Jade sighed, "I know Miss Peters will kill me if I don't find it."
"Did you write the song?" Leigh-Anne asked,
Jade laughed, her eyes dropping to the floor. "Of course."
"What's it called? Mine is called "Your Love"" Leigh-Anne asked.
"Secret Love Song." Jade answered, her hand wrapped around a blue folder. A smile appeared on her face. "Found it!"
Leigh-Anne laughed "C'mon, Miss will kill us if we're late."
The girls ran to the class, they made it just as the bell rang.
As they took their seats, Miss Peters entered, a girl followed behind her, her hair was almost as yellow as the sun and eyes bluer than the ocean.
Her skin was porcelain and flawless. She had a bright light about her that immediately made Jade and Leigh-Anne smile.
"Class," Miss Peters said, trying to gather the attention
of the twelve students that actually showed up. "We have an new student, her name is Perrie Edwards, she just moved here from South Shields."
Immediately, Jade looked up and took another glance at Perrie but again didn't recognise her. The name was familiar however.
"We will be working in groups of four these next couple of lessons." Miss Peters announced," So, Perrie will work with Leigh-Anne, Jade and...Jesy."
Jesy Nelson looked at the girls and paled, she knew that they'll be more talented than her. Why did she always get paired up with people who always have a higher grade and prettier than her?
Perrie and Jesy pulled up a chair to Leigh-Anne's and Jade's table.
There was an awkward silence for a while before Jade cleared her throat.
"So," Jade said, "You're from South Shields?"
Perrie nodded, "Yeah, me, me brother and me mom moved here a few weeks ago."
They all nodded.
"So, class." Miss Peters said enthusiastically, "The songs that you wrote by yourself...you're gonna sing it for your group. Darren and Camilla? Take your groups to different rooms so you can sing for them."
Once it was only Jade and her group, they asked "Who's going first?"
"I will!" Leigh-Anne answered, "this is called "Your Love"
She cleared her throat and began to sing "Luxurious loving like Egyptian cotton. If I ain't got nothin' least I got you. I wait with the top down, a mili in the bank. It ain't what I got but, it's what you do.
"Deeper than oceans, as sweet as devotion it's all I need. What your love make me feel like, oh. Your love make me feel like, oh. What your love make me feel like, oh! Dirty dancing in the moonlight.
That's what your love make me feel like, oh. Your love make me feel like, oh. Your love make me feel like, oh. Come and kiss me like the first time. That's what your love make me feel like, oh.." Leigh-Anne stopped and looked up. "It kinda goes on"
The group applauded, and they looked impressed.
"Your voice is insane!" Perrie gasped and Jesy and Jade nodded in agreement.
"Who's next?" Perrie asked.
"I'll go." Jesy answered, "mine is called "Good Enough." Jesy took a deep breath and began singing "I am the diamond you left in the dust, I am the future you lost in the past. Seems like I never compared. Wouldn't notice if I disappeared. You stole the love that I saved for myself. And I watched you give it to somebody else. But these scars, no longer I hide. I found the light you trapped inside, couldn't love me if you try. Am I still not good enough? Am I still not worth that much? I'm sorry for the way my life turned out, Sorry for the smile I'm wearing now. Guess I'm still not good enough." Jesy stopped, her eyes filled up with tears.
Jade looked at Jesy, she knew how it felt to feel like life wasn't good. Jade hugged Jesy, she was aware that Jesy got bullied...but she never stood up for her.
"You are the most beautiful and amazing and talented girl that I have ever met, don't let anyone bring you down." Jade whispered.
"Who's next?" Leigh-Anne asked, placing her hand comfortably on top of Jesy's.
"I'll good if you want to go last, Jeed." Perrie said, "mine is called Black Magic."
"Yeah, thanks" Jade answered.
Perrie began to sing, "All the girls on the block knocking at my door! Wanna know what it is make the boys want more! Is your lover playing on your side? Says he loves you, but he ain't got time here's the answer, come and get it at a knocked down price. Hey! Full of honey just to make him sweet. Crystal ballin' Just to help him see what he's been missing, so come and get it while you still got time. Hey! Get your boy on his knees and repeat after me say; Take a sip of my Secret potion, I'll make you fall in love. For a spell that can't be broken, one drop should be enough. Boy, you belong to me. I called the recipe and it's called Black Magic."
Perrie stopped and everyone was staring, the same idea was starting to form in everyone's head.
"My song is called Secret Love Song." Jade said before she sang "We keep behind closed doors, every time I see you I die a little more, stolen moments that we steal as the curtain falls it'll never be enough. As you drive me to my house, I can't stop these silent tears from rolling down, you and I both have to hide on the outside where I can't be yours and you can't be mine. But I know this we got a love that is hopeless. Why can't I hold you in the street? Why can't I kiss you on the dance floor? I wish that it could be like that. Why can't we be like that? 'Cause I'm yours. Why can't I say that I'm in love? I wanna shout it from the rooftops! I wish that it could be like that, why can't we be like that? 'Cause I'm yours." Jade finished. She looked around and seen Leigh-Anne frowning.
"Jade," Leigh-Anne asked "can I talk to you outside?"
Leigh-Anne and Jade walked outside.
"Those lyrics..." Leigh-Anne said quietly, "They're about that, aren't they?"
Jade looked down, "I didn't know what else to write about, Leigh."
"You wrote about something that is personal to both of us, Jade!" Leigh whispered, "If the rest of the class hear those lyrics, it's gonna raise some suspicion...people will start to question."
Jade took Leigh-Anne's hand, "Leigh, 98% of this class are idiots, they won't think about it...they'll either hate it or love it."
Leigh-Anne nodded and took a deep breathe. Her shoulders clearly relaxing.
Jade couldn't hide forever...but for Leigh...she has to try.
