He sat up slowly his ribs complaining as he did so. Then as he blinked his eyes open he saw her. Red curls framed her delicate face and her green eyes were instantly recognisable. Clary. He prised his eyes open and looked her up and down. By the Angel she was gorgeous. Today she'd come in exactly what she promised him she would. A dark red sweater, leather skirt that was yanked up to high above her knees and black fishnet tights. "Stop ogling me Jace, for the Angel's sake" she said, with no real anger in her voice. She smiled then and he drew her towards him. A fraction of a second later they were kissing. She sat down next to him and finally the broke off, he suddenly realised he was gasping for air. "I wasn't ogling, I was merely observing how undeniably gorgeous you are" he teased her. He curled a lock of her hair around his finger and she sighed. "How are you feeling?" she asked, a slight edge of sadness to her voice. "Okay, I guess.' Something about the way she looked at me was bugging me. "Clary? Why do you look so sad?" he asked trying not to sound clingy. She sighed and he watched as her eyes began to water. "I-I just am sick of you being I here. We should be out hunting and going on dates. And - and it's all my fault because I stabbed you with that goddamn sword!" she yelled her voice breaking. His jaw fell open before he could stop it. "Clary" he said grabbing her wrists gently, "Without you I wouldn't be alive okay. So stop blaming yourself. I owe everything to you. Please just look at me." She reluctantly stared towards him, her eyes spilling tears. He pulled her closer and held her face to his chest. "Clarissa Morgernsten, I love you." he announced rather dramatically. "There is no pretending, I love you, I will love you until I die and if there is a life after that I will love you." And they fell asleep together, her head on his chest, knowing that there was no pretending - they loved each other with all their hearts.
