White.

White weddings bore me.

I always told my family I'd have a wedding that broke all the traditions. Colorful dresses and suits, crazy neon colors, and just a wedding that would be ridiculous. Now as I stand here with a black dress upon my body, a fiancé I do not want hovers near. "You look beautiful...As always." His hands rest on my arms while his chin lays on my shoulder, the mirror reflects back to me. I only have to fake this a little longer. "Don't you know it's bad luck to see your bride in her dress before marrying her? A cursed marriage?" Braxton chuckles before pecking my cheek and turning around, I winced at the affection. "I don't believe in bad luck."
The whole race was out there, just beyond the doors next to me. "I'll see you at the alter." With that, he left me to myself. I felt my lip tremble, if this didn't work, if something went wrong, would I be stuck here forever?

"Madam?" I jump at the sound of Balzar's voice. I looked down to the dwarf with smile. "I have been thinking and..." Balzar draws a long silver knife from his pocket, I immediately began to step away would his loyalties go so far as to harm me? "No! No! Madam, it is for you." He holds up the knife to me, I raise an eyebrow and take it from him.
"The dress has a pocket on the inside of it's sleeves made for weapons, I had your designer make it so and she is in on it too." I found the pocket and slipped the
knife into it with a sigh of relief. "The dwarves stand behind you, Lady Persephone."
I smiled before hugging him to me, this all ended today. The dwarf shows me to the door where I know I'll be walking through to a large audience, I wonder what all our subjects thought of this. Did they think it was a diversion of the real issues in there world right now? Or maybe some are generally happy.

I choose the more happy outcome of this situation, being with Ricky and our children in the end. I don't believe in becoming a housewife, not that there is anything wrong with woman who are, but it has never been my style. With the hopes to finish up all my school I want to become a photographer, see the world and never be locked up in a prison of solitude with nothing better to do than sit and stare at nothingness.
I know that's what will happen if I stay here and I know now that I can't afford for anything to go wrong today.

Walking down the aisle has to be the easiest part of it all. After reaching Braxton I found it amazing I didn't even trip once. I see myself wandering in thought as the religious leader stands before the two of us, I hope the boys figured everything out because if they didn't all I had was the dwarves. "Persephone." I jumped at the sound of the leader's voice that snaps me back to reality. "I...I apologize I have been in a daze since yesterday." It isn't a complete lie, everything has happened so fast I can't believe I didn't have a breakdown of some sort. "Do you agree to be apart of this marriage?" My heart bumps so loud I can feel and even hear it beating in my chest. If this is a time for my rescue party to stand and fight I don't understand why they weren't. "I..." Braxton roughly nudged me with his elbow. "Ms, are you alright?" The leader's face fills with the concern and my eyes shoot everywhere, they weren't coming.

I open my mouth to respond a yes to save my life, but was interrupted by a loud slam. I turn to see Balzar and several
other short, but muscular beings charge into the room. "What is—" Braxton's eyes brighten in fear when he notices the dwarves were running for him. "Don't just stand there! Help me!" He shouts at the guards by our sides, I slip my hand into my pocket and pull out the knife. "No! He's mine." I hold then knife to Braxton's throat, he puts his hands up in a pathetic defense. "Take a step and it goes into his throat." I hiss at the guards as chaos ensues with dwarf turning on demon. "Vanessa!" My attention is brought from my hostage to see an all to familiar face running to me.

"Ricky! Wait!" In a quick instance Braxton snaps the knife from hands by using his palm to harshly smack my wrist and his other hand to snatch the knife away. A pin shoots into my wrist, the bastard broke my wrist. I am met with an even more excruciating pain in my chest in a quick second. "You thought you were tough, you really thought you could best me and this empire. You're damn well wrong." Our eyes meet, just in time to see
Ricky collide with my assaulter. My back hit the ground while the hilt of the knife protrudes from my chest, staining such a beautiful white dress maroon.
"Vanessa! No, no, no, don't die on me." A gentle hold comforts me that I have someone close. With strength I barely
have I touch his face, looking into the eyes that I fell in love with in such a hateful world. "I, I just want to tell you I love you." I whisper to him while his head shakes at me. "I love you too, but this isn't going to
be the last time we say it. You aren't going to die." I feel him pick me up, more pain shoots to my chest and I cry out as warm tears come from my eyes. Black dots blur my vision yet even in death I know I am loved.

"Wake up, Vanessa, Wake up." My head feels like it's on fire. What even happened? I open my eyes to see an elderly woman standing over me, she wore a nurse uniform while she shines a bright light into my eyes. "Ah, finally."
I try to move, but can't. "Oh, no moving, sweetie. You won't be moving anywhere for a while." I moan as more pain hits my head like someone took a frying pan to it
"Where am I?" My vision slowly begins to clear. A white ceiling above my head I manage to lean myself forward slightly to see restraints on my feet and arms. "Saint Michael's For The Criminally Insane." I immediately begin to move against my restraints. "What?! What happened? Why am I here? Where's Ricky?" The nurse chuckles and shakes her head.
"You always talked about this person in your coma, he's not real, sweetie."
"What? Of course he is, we have two children. Sawyer and JoJo, we have friends you can call and talk to!" The nurse touches my forehead and sighs as she takes out a bottle of clear liquid. "Honey, the only friend here is sitting outside." She withdraws liquid from the bottle with a needle and syringe before inserting it into my vein. "No! Wait, I'm not insane! It's true! The angels and the demons and the dwarves they're all real!" My vision is blurring again as I watch the nurse to the door and opens it. I pass out, but mot before I hear the nurse say a sentence I don't think I can ever forget.

"It was just a bunch of mind games, sweetheart."
