The Nerd In A Bun {Epilogue}

My hands were completely numb from the hike, It was a big mistake not taking the mittens that my brother had offered me. But, I wanted to prove I wasn't a "Wussy". Unlike I had cared until now. Having guys fall for me seemed nice, But now it's making me insecure. Luckily, My brother doesn't know squat about them. If he did, He'd try everything in his power to destroy my relationship with them.

I walked into the classroom, Noticing all the students in the hall had scurried around. I was confused, They've never done that before. Until, I realized that Tanner had a surprise for "everyone".

"As you know, I am the most toughest guy around". Tanner Bragged, Flexing his muscles "So, As being captain of the football team. I decided to award my fellow teammates".

My head lifted a little, I wasn't in football. But, He always referred to me as a "Team Mate". But, I didn't dare go near him. Who knows what he'd do, Having everyone see him with a nerd would destroy him.

I fixed my glasses and ignored him as I walked on, It was hard not to look back at him. But, I needed to finish the homework with Jason. Which, For Some Reason I had looked forward to.

"CLAIRE!!" Tanner yelled across from the hall, I turned around so fast that I didn't realize if I had turned around or not. Everyone was staring, So I realized Then I was in the center of attention.

"Ye-s?" I say as I turn back and walk towards him, But I stutter and it flowed through crowds of snickers that seemed like they'd never end. Embarrassment was just the beginning.

"I hope you don't mind calling out the boys for me on this list". He says, He takes out a slip of paper. Each name written carefully in alphabetical order, He hands it to me. "Once I call their name, Cross it off". He orders, Handing Me a pen.

"Listen Tanner, I'd love too but I have to finish the homework with Jason".

Tanner scoffs "That Cute Boy Dweeb?" Once he had said that, I lost all my respect for him. I should've expected it. But, not in that tone.

"He is NOT a dweeb thank you very much!" I scorn, I throw the slip of paper and pen on the ground and walk away. Hiding my face as I slip past people to get to Jason.

I try to pass through, Until I'm stopped by a hand touching my shoulder. I look up, Seeing Jason. I freeze in embarrassment, I hope he didn't see that.

"What are you in a rush for?" He asked, He smiled and messed around with his hair.

I blushed, Fluffing my hair "I was in a rush to get to you". He looked puzzled "To finish the homework!" I quickly state, He nodded and smiled.

"Alright, Let's hurry before next period starts".
