Have you ever felt so lost and unloved that you would consider taking your own life? Well that is how a beautiful grey eyed girl named Claire felt. Looking back at her early childhood years she never would have guessed that she would end up here. She used to be a happy, go-lucky kind of kid, so what happened? what changed? People would say that when she smiled it was almost as if the sun itself started to shine a little brighter. She would bring happiness to everyone she met. It seemed that even the worst of days would turn into the best ones just by looking at this angel. So you may ask what turned this gem into the sad shell of a girl you know saw before you.

Her parents. Thats what changed.

As she grew older Claire began to notice that she was not like all of the other girls she had met. She was different. Not skinny and not as pretty, or at least that is what Claire thought to her self. The thoughts only got worse when her own mother called her fat and worthless. So what was Claire to do? She stopped eating and begin to hide herself away from the world. She enclosed herself in her room. The world around her began to change. The sun stopped shinning as bright and there were more and more storm clouds. It would rain for days, almost reflecting the way poor Claire felt. She didn't know it yet, but she had magic. The kind of magic that only appeared in response to her emotions.

One day was harder than others. She woke up in her bed and it began the last day of her life. She decided that she had had enough of this terrible existence and decided it was time to end it all. So that night as she counted the stars, the same stars that used to bring her so much joy, she cried. The tears didn't stop even as she drifted off into what seemed like never ending darkness.

She was asleep.

Being on the brink of death, Claire realized that this isn't what she wanted. She wanted to live. In her dreams, She saw the shadowy figure of a hand. She thought to herself, "What the hell, Why not?" and She grabbed the hand.

This overwhelming feeling of happiness serged through her and she felt as if she was flying. The breeze flowed through her hair. She looked below her to see the bright lights of New York City. She looked above her to see the stars. The constellations were so much prettier than they have ever been in her life. Two stars stood out. They shinned brighter than the rest. Claire thought to herself and whispered "Second star to the right and straight on till morning." She knew that it was too good to be true, but part of her wanted to believe that it was real, that even she could get a happy ending.

Claire awoke to find herself in her room, in the same bed that she hated so much. She then whispered to herself "I knew it was too good to be true." She then felt a strange breeze. One that told her that you are still asleep my darling, and that she would get her happy ending. At that moment she woke up.

Once upon a time, I awoke in a strange place.

She slowly let her eyes adjust to darkness of night and tried to take in her surroundings. She felt the sand between her toes and the wind blow through her favorite green nightgown. At that moment she turned around to see the moon's reflection over the endless sea and could breathe in the scent of the saltwater. This, this felt like home.
