It had been three days since Faye had returned to her loft apartment and started to learn how to knit. She had made great progress on the pattern she was creating, but what to attach it to, she still could not think of. The easiest, of course, would be a scarf, but being who she was, she wanted a challenge. So she continued on her pattern without knowing if it will fit in whatever it was she would be creating.

She had to admit that though it was a little calming and it passed the time (not to mention it pushed any thoughts of Nathan out of her mind), knitting wasn't exactly what she would like to spend most of her time doing. Sure it was work, but she was always one for variety. The day before, she tried jogging, which ended up in her stopping at so many shops, she felt like she was at some Biggest Loser boot camp, running back to her house carrying a lot of weight. Most of them were books – mostly about business, economics and leadership – and the others were an assortment of clothes, shoes, accessories and goodness knows what.

After that, she had spent the rest of the day looking at them, wondering if she purchased them because of a sudden consumerist impulse or because she needed assurance that her perceptions in life never changed. That she was still the same woman after everything that happened. If it were the latter, then she was mostly the same woman. The purchase of the clothes, shoes, accessories and make-up weren't her. Where the impetus to buy it came from, she didn't know.

But what she did know was that she was going to need them. She decided as much when she put down her knitting needles and headed for her room. If she drove out in a few minutes, she would still be able to attend the homecoming.

Maybe it was what she needed: to get back to her roots and work her way up again. Of course, no part of it was to see Nathan...

Alright, some part...

To be honest, mostly to see Nathan.

She sighed. Whatever happened the past week had really changed her perceptions about the guy. And very little of it was because of his new look.

She plucked out the boots she got from Michael Kors and the dress she got from Antonio Berardi. Light make up finished it all up as she shunned using any of the accessories she got from Anita Ko. Wearing them would be too lavish for her small town and could brand her as being too haughty. At least, the dress and the boots did not have the brand names printed or that anyone there would know the designers and how much what she wore cost.

It would be a long drive back to her hometown and she dreaded the thoughts that were entering her mind. Different scenarios played in her head as she thought of meeting Nathan once again. Some of them were horrifically embarrassing and others made her spine tingle. She didn't know which one – or if any one – of them would come true. But one thing she was sure of, whatever would happen would be dramatic, or at the least, attention-getting.

She sighed. Maybe going wasn't such a good idea.

But of she could avoid him like she did when they were on the ship...
