Breathe in, breathe out. Kira shakily sat down on the chair, trying to recall what her psychologist told her to do in this situation. Breathe in, breathe out. Kira gripped her dress, desperately trying to calm her breathing down. She hadn't felt like this since Lydia.
At the mere thought of her, Kira hunched over, her breathing getting heavier and her vision getting blurry. Why did this have to happen today? Today, of all days?
"Kira?" A voice rung out, the clicking of the persons heels echoing as she neared Kira.
"Please, go away." She choked out, tears beginning to stream down her face.
"It's Malia." Malia said softly, quietly walking over to her girlfriend, not wanting to disturb her. She hadn't seen Kira this bad in a long time.
"Malia...I...I don't know if I can do this." Kira whispered. She could hear Malia kneel down in front of her, and could just barely see the bottom of her wedding dress.
"I know you can." She responded, reaching up to stroke Kira's curled hair.
"But...What if you stop loving me? What if you find someone else?" Kira asked, the thought causing more tears to spill out of her eyes.
"I won't. I love you unconditionally. Sometimes I wonder if I love you a bit too much." Malia smiled softly.
Kira looked up, meeting Malia's eyes.
She knew she loved Malia, and she knew Malia loved her. But the thought at the back of her mind, the thought whispering "She'll leave you" was there, nagging away at her.
"But..." She looked away, slowly exhaling. "What if? You don't know how you'll feel in ten years. What if you don't love me any more?"
Kira could feel the bitter edge to her voice, and she winced as the words left her mouth.
"You know what? I might not love you anymore in ten years." Malia replied. Kira's head lifted up quickly in surprise. That was not the answer she was expecting.
"What?" She asked, cleary taken-aback.
"You heard me." Malia said firmly. "In ten years, I might not love you anymore. But you know what? I love you right now. I love you right now, and I have loved you for five years, and I am determined to love you for five more. Who cares about ten years in the future? It's right now that matters. And right now I want you to get off your butt, walk down the aisle, and marry me. Because I love you, more than anything in the world, and I would never, ever, hurt you."
Kira blinked a few times, unsure of what to say.
"I love y-" She started, before being interrupted my Malia's lips on hers. Kira melted into the kiss- Malia's lips tasted completely different than Lydia's.
