Adeliene~
"Oh welcome home, dear!" My mother said excitedly, coming over towards my husband and I as we opened the front door to our house, holding our newly born child. She peered over the pink blanket to see her sleeping.
"Have you decided on her name yet?" She asked, leaning towards us for an answer
"Amanda." My husband, Daniel and I responded, looking down at her and she began to open her eyes
"That's a wonderful name!" My father yelled, walking down our carpeted stairs, holding my 4 year old son, Matthew, in his arms while our 9 year old daughter, Amy, held his hand. Immediately, Amy let go and ran towards me. She jumped up and down to try and get a good look of Amanda. I smiled and handed her to my mom while Daniel and I walked over to my dad.
"Is the nursery done?" I whispered to him and he nodded. I excitedly ran up the stairs as my dad clapped Daniel on the back. I walked into the nursery and I squealed with delight. The walls were light pink and there was a white crib in the corner with a mobile hanging over it. The curtains were white and the floor was carpeted a light cream. My husband joined me in the room and hugged me from behind and rested his head on top of mine.
"I can't believe we have another one!" He smiled and I planted a kiss on his cheek. "I think that we will be pretty good at this now that it's our third kid." As soon as he finished that sentence, we heard an ear piercing whine coming from downstairs. We came downstairs to see Matthew on the floor clutching his head and Amanda crying from Matthew's yelling while Amy rolled her eyes. My husband and I looked at each other and sighed, him scooping our infant out of my mom's hold, and me picking up Matthew and taking him to the bathroom.
"Alright, Detective Matt, what happened?" I pulled out my first aid kit from the cabinet and he wiped his eyes and put an icepack to his temple
"A-Amy pushed me into the table when I tried to look a-at the baby." He spluttered out and wiped his eyes viciously again
"I didn't even push him that hard!" Amy screamed from the doorway with her arms crossed. I looked at her and sighed, raising an eyebrow at her "Ugh! I hate you! You always get me in trouble!" She yelled at Matthew and he began crying. She screamed and ran to her bedroom, slamming the door behind her. I could hear her throwing things around and screaming into a pillow. I rolled my eyes and continued to help Matthew calm down.
After ten minutes, Matt was in his room playing with toys and I was standing outside of Amy's door. I opened it and she was braiding her doll's hair as if nothing had happened. She met my eyes and I looked around the room. Her bedding was everywhere, there were books scattered on the floor, and her clothes were thrown around.
"You done?" I asked with a smirk and she nodded, looking sorry. We began picking up all of her things together and in no time, her room was clean again. "We need to talk." I said to her, and she looked at me with fear in her eyes. I closed the door and we sat on her bed.
"Alright, Amy. You are now the older sister of two kids. Although you get some privileges, this comes with responsibility." I said strictly
"What's a privilege?" She turned and asked me, suddenly interested in the situation
"It's whe- It's like when you get an extra slice of pizza on pizza nights." I cringed at my explanation, knowing that this could end poorly. She nodded with a smile. "So, this means that you can't throw these fits anymore. No more pulling this stunt that you just pulled again. Understand?" I crossed my arms and she nodded once more
"Yes, mom."
"Good, now go and help dad with Amanda, okay?"
"Yes, mom." She raced out of the room and into the nursery as I walked down the stairs. My older brother, Jordan, walked through the front door.
"WHERE ARE MY NIECE AND NEPHEW?!" He yelled in a booming voice up the stairs. I could hear Amy and Matthew gasp in delight, and a couple of seconds later, they came racing down the stairs and jumped into his arms.
"Uncle Jordan!" They grinned as he rubbed Matthews hair and placed a kiss on Amy's forehead.
"Hey kiddos!" He returned to his normal voice and smiled at me. Daniel came down the stairs holding Amanda to see what all of the commotion was. Jordan puffed out his chest and frowned when he saw him, making Daniel stop in fear, but as soon as he saw Amanda, my brother let out a high pitched squeal and ran towards her. I scooped her out of Daniel's arms and Jordan made silly faces towards her. Amanda giggled and the world became a brighter place for a couple of seconds. I looked over at Jordan and he was smiling even harder than before.
"She's so cute! I'm calling her Manda!" He took Amanda away and walked into the kitchen to talk to our parents. Daniel let out a sigh of relief and I laughed. He twirled me around and kissed my on the lips.
"Ewwwww!" Jordan and my children said in sync. We laughed and I grabbed my child back
"Jordan, you can't just go and steal my children." I looked up to see Jordan with Matthew on his back and Amy in his arms, opening the front door and running out.
"We'll be back!" He screamed while my children giggled and him got into his car.
A couple of hours later, they returned with ice cream and jordan was carrying around fifty pound of groceries. He walked over to the kitchen and set them down on the table. His face was red and he went to go and get water.
"You know you can take more than one trip to the car, right?" I leaned against the refrigerator.
"Two trips are for losers!" He screamed as Daniel walked in
"But I take two trips." He furrowed his eyebrows and Jordan smirked
"Exactly." Jordan responded nonchalantly
"But I-"
"Did you have something to say to me?" Jordan quickly got up and walked over to Daniel, towering over and intimidating him.
"N-no." He shrunk in fear and Jordan laughed, returning to his seat.
"Good." He continued to drink the water and talk aimlessly towards my mom and I returned to the living room. I looked down at Amanda and she began to close her eyes again. I walked out of the kitchen and began to climb the stairs. I set her down in her crib and she let out a small yawn before sleeping.
"You are going to do wondrous things Amanda Johnson." I smiled at her before walking out of the room to join the rest of my family downstairs.
