School rolled around that Monday, and I wanted answers. Caleb had been acting suspiciously and I didn't like it.
I walked into school with Ava, her talking about something. I missed it, though, as I was on a hunt for Caleb. I saw him at his locker, talking to Tyreece.
I push my way through the crowd of students and get to Caleb. Tyreece awkwardly says hi to me and leaves.
"What's up?" Caleb says, unknowing of my suspicion of him. I slammed his locker for him, giving him an intense stare.
"Enough of this bullshit, Caleb," I whispered harshly to him. "What's going on?"
"What are you talking about?" he asked in his cute, confused voice.
"You've been sneaking around and been acting weird, especially when you're with me. What the hell is wrong with you?"
I saw the look in his eyes as it went from innocent confusion into a worried, sort of protective tone, as if he was hiding something from me. He said nothing for a few seconds, choosing his words wisely. He slowly and softly put his arm around me, making my heart tingle. But I wasn't going to let this distract me from what was going on.
"Listen, I think we should hang out again this weekend."
I interrupted him, "Caleb don't try to distract me."
"I'm not, Evelyn. Believe me, this'll answer all your questions."
I did, I did believe him. "Your place? Friday night?" I asked, in the process reluctantly agreeing to whatever he was planning to do.
"Perfect," he replied, kissing me on the cheek before walking to class. I watched him walk off, wondering what the hell I had just gotten myself into.
As I walked into class I saw Adam, who I never noticed was in this class, let alone he sat right behind me. Both of his eyes were black, his right arm in a sling. He looked at me apologetically; I gave a small grin before turning towards the front, noticing that Mrs. Blair wasn't in yet.
I felt a tap on my shoulder: him. "Hey, I'm really sorry about Friday night." He sounded sincere, but knowing the fuckboy he is I was unsure.
"Ok," I replied, not wanting to give him attention.
"Hey, he said, his voice getting louder and more harsh. "I said I'm sorry. What more do you want?!" He was now grabbing my shoulder harder. I was starting to get scared. As I was about to yell for him to get off of me, I felt another strong hand approach and pull Adam off of me.
"Get the hell off of her!" It was Liam, who was walking into class when he saw this. Adam jumped out of his seat and into Liam's face, a combination of fear and aggression in his eyes. He pushed Liam, almost to hide the true terror inside of him.
As I stood up to try to break the tussle, Liam pushed back, causing Adam to throw a punch. Luckily, Liam ducked, pushing Adam into a nearby desk. The crash caused what seemed like hundreds of students and teachers to barge into the room, including Caleb. He came up to me, as I was now sobbing in my desk from what happened. He put his arm around me, continually asking what was wrong. I couldn't answer, only pointing to Adam on the ground, holding his injured arm.
Caleb stood up, staring into Liam's eyes and soul. I hopped out of my chair, rushing to break up a potential fight between two of my only friends. The principal, Mr. Yang, rushed in to stop the brawl. But I knew what was going on. Caleb saw Liam shove his friend, and he probably thinks Liam was coming after me too.
I walked with Caleb, Adam, and Liam walk into Mr. Yang's office to explain what happened. When I entered his formal, oddly- sweet smelling office, I see that my parents somehow beat me. Their look is an odd combination of fear and anger.
I explained what happened. My stories lined up with Liam and Adam's. Caleb, however, still seemed to not believe it. He sat, arms crossed, glaring at me as I continuously tried telling him I was being truthful. He still wanted to believe that this was all Liam's fault, though.
"I can't believe you were siding that asshole," he said as we walked out of the office. Liam and Adam were both given 3 days of in-school suspension. I wasn't in the mood for his attitude; Liam's sentence was already pissing me off. After all, he was just standing up for me.
"He's sweet, Caleb. Maybe you should take notes." I was kinda joking when I said this. To Caleb, though, this was a huge slap in the face to him.
"What's that supposed to mean, Evelyn?" His expression was that of a pissed-off wolf, sort of on the prowl for my words as they came out of my mouth.
I didn't mean to aggravate him, just to poke a little fun at him; he did it to me all the time. "Oh, come on. Lighten up." I smiled and punched him lightly on the arm. He just glared back.
"Evelyn, listen. I love too much for guys to be treating you like that. Adam may be my friend, but he's an asshole. And Liam, well."
"Now he's a nice boy, Caleb." I cut him off.
"He just wants to get in your pants, E!" he thundered back. "I know he seems sweet, but it's all an act. Trust me."
I didn't know if I did; I couldn't tell if Caleb was jealous or honest. I didn't reply, not only because I was unsure but because I didn't want to talk about this anymore.
We walked back to class in silence. He seemed mad at me, but when I arrived at Mrs. Blair's room, he gave me a hug before walking back the way we came.
The rest of the school day felt like a blur; I was stuck on what had happened earlier and whatever secret Caleb was hiding from me. Ava was trying to tell me about her and Connor's date or whatever they had the other night, but I was in the zone. When asked I thought about whatever she was talking about I silently nodded, pretending to know what the hell was going on.
After 4 grueling days, Friday finally rolled around. The day was technically shorter, due to us having an assembly to end the school day. I hadn't really talked to Caleb since Monday, but I would be seeing a lot of him today, as he was in charge of the assembly since he was our student body president. I never really understood how he won that title, other than all the girls in our school voting for him.
I had finished all my classes and me and Ava were walking into the gym, finding a seat for the assembly. We sat in the third row of the chair seats, with a perfect angle for me to gaze at Caleb during it. This assembly was gonna be perfect, for me at least. I got to see his toned, chiseled body and hear his flirtatious, illustrious voice.
The assembly itself wasn't too exciting, as it was just reminding us how we were almost finished with first semester. With Thanksgiving just around the corner and Christmas following that, I was definitely ready for it to be over, especially now that I had someone special to spend them with. While Ava, someone who was very active with the school, left me to play in the games and activities we had during the assembly, I stayed in my seat, admiring my man, wondering why he wanted me of all people.
The last game finally came, and Ava, like she did every year, grabbed my hand and tried bringing me out to the floor. And like the previous 3 years, I wasn't going. Until I saw Caleb coming over, wanting me to join. ¨Come on, Evelyn. Come play dodgeball with us.¨
If not for Caleb's puppy eyes and flirtatious voice, there would've been no way. But man did he know how to get me on his side! Against my better judgment I took his hand and walked down to the floor to the join the dozens who rushed to join.
I had no idea what I was doing, so I just stood in the back, letting Caleb and Ava have any ball that rolled my way. Eventually those two both got eliminated so I was doing my best to avoid conflict, until I saw a ball careening at my chest. My instincts kicked in and I flailed my arms, miraculously catching it. Suddenly a rush of adrenaline came over me. I hustled for the next ball and scrambled to throw it to the other side, eliminating someone else. Woo!
As I bent down for another dodgeball, I felt a ball moving at what seemed the speed of a bullet careen into my right cheek. I hit the ground hard enough to nearly break my jaw. I hear the gym issue a collective ¨Oooh!" before I black out.
The first thing I see is Caleb's majestic blue eyes when I come to; I nearly cream my jeans at the sight of him. He has one hand on the giant bruise on my cheek, the other one outstretched to help me up. I see Ava on the phone in the corner, talking to what seems to be my mother. No one else is in the gym. Shows how much I really mean to people.
I feel a huge pounding through my whole head as I stand up. Caleb puts his arm around me and leads me to his car. All the commotion had made me forget about our night we planned. He opened the passenger side door for me as I kept my hand pressed against my cheek, praying it wouldn't bruise but knowing it would.
I laid my head against my window, hoping a nap would ease the pain. I feel Caleb's hand climb up the back of my shirt, slowly working his way up and down my spine. I attempt to push him off, but it feels too good. He says he's doing it to keep me awake in case I have a concussion, but I knew the real reason.
We whipped into the McDonald's drive-thru, where I felt was our go-to place to eat. Caleb ordered me two drinks: a sweet tea to drink, a water bottle to hold on my face. I attempted to eat my chicken nuggets with the cool bottle on my face, but it was pointless and almost impossible to chew. Eventually I just set the bottle in the cupholder and went to town on my nuggets.
As we pulled into his driveway and walked through the garage, I asked him the question that was always bugging me: What about your parents?¨
¨Oh, don't worry about them,¨ he replied. ¨My mom's at a conference for her job in New York. She won't be home till next week.¨
¨But what about your dad?¨ I asked.
¨He's probably at the bar downtown with his pals. He'll come home drunk as a skunk once the bar closes tomorrow morning.¨
I smiled, not at his dad's alcohol abuse, but that we would have a night to ourselves. With the way he was acting in the car, I could tell Caleb was in a good mood. Who knew what was gonna happen tonight?
He walked me into the living room and he sat down on the couch. He outstretched his arms and I leaped into his lap. We curled up and spent a majority of the night snuggled on the sofa, watching whatever movies we could find on Netflix.
It was about 11:50 when Caleb suggested we move up into his room. I was reluctant at first, knowing this was something that I'd never done before. How was I gonna know if I was ready?
What the hell, I thought to myself, taking his hands and climbing the elegant staircase into his room. I wouldn't know if I was ready or not until I did it, right?
As I walked into the room, I felt the door close against my back as Caleb pressed me against it, his sweet-tasting lips locked with mine. I felt his hands slowly creep up my waist and into the back of my shirt, slowly removing my top and eventually my bra. I did a bit of my own removing by taking off Caleb's shirt, revealing his majestic, washboard abs and miraculous chest.
I felt as light as air as Caleb lifted me off my feet and onto the bed, his lips still pressed with my own. I felt him slowly creeping up my body as my pants were slowly creeping down.
Eventually I was left with nothing on my body, as Caleb began to take off his jeans. I look down to see what he's working with and am quite pleased to see his well-hung member.
As I felt his body become entwined with mine and I prepare for his cock, I feel what seems to be tiny, prickling hairs rub against me. I figured that he might not have shaved in awhile and carried on. Soon after a large pair of paws touch my waist. This makes me jump up and look. What I see next stuns me and I leap off the bed.
As I'm now sitting on the floor, I look up to see a large, hairy wolf standing on its hind legs. If not for its piercing, blue eyes I wouldn't have know it was Caleb. I scurried to put my clothes back on. I couldn't find my top, so I threw on Caleb's sweatshirt that was sitting on the floor and ran downstairs. The last thing I here before I run into the garage is my name.
"Evelyn, no!¨
