Being the Shield

Chapter six
After a few weeks team RWBY was getting better as a team. They were finally getting along with each other. But now it is not going so well on their first mission. Currently team RWBY was currently injured inside a cave. As Draco was protecting them with the new shield that he forged. He was using his shield to form an ice barrier blocking off the entrance of the cave.(image above)So that the twenty-one Ursa Grimm don't break in and kill them. They were sent to exterminate a large quantity of Grimm that was going to attack a small town. But before we get into that lets go back a few hours when all was right in the world.
Back at Beacon a few hours before the mission Draco and team RWBY were eating at the cafeteria. Well Draco was eating while team RWBY was discussing new team attacks. Then team JNPR came over to eat with the team and Draco. Juan"Hey guys how is everything?" Yang"We're doing fine how about you guys?" Ren"Not to bad but could be better." Both Draco and team RWBY looked at Nora and saw that she was very hyper today. Draco"Nora are you ok?" Nora talked at a fast paste and said"Of course I'm fine! Why wouldn't I be fine?! I mean I just want to sing all day long! Lalalalalalalala!" Draco and the teams cringed at how hyper Nora was and how bad her singing is. They then started to talk about how their day has bin. But as they were talking Draco heard a girl scream in pain. He turned around and what he saw made his blood boil. It was Cardin Winchester picking on Velvet by grabbing her left bunny ear. The others saw this and were pissed off as well. Blake"How despicable can he get?" Pyrrha"Someone needs to do something." As they talked Draco had flashbacks to when he was in training back in Argonia. Everyone would pick on him because he wouldn't pass the first time like they all did when it came to training tests. Sometimes he needed a second or third try to get it done properly. The bullies in Argonia would always tease him for not being smart or strong enough and how he was an embarrassment to his family because he wouldn't always get the best grades. But in the end he showed them all how strong he was. He trained, and trained, and trained until his body ached and his bones broke. He may not have gotten the best writing grades but he did get the best training grades. He showed all of those bullies that you never mess with an underdog. Because you will get your ass beaten to a pulp because of it. So Draco got up and started to walk over to Cardin and his team. Teams RWBY and JNPR saw Draco walk over to Cardin's team and wondered what he was going to do. Draco was halfway to the team and summoned his new Dragonbone shield that he made in the forge here at Beacon on his right arm. Draco yelled"Cardin!" And when Cardin looked to his left he saw a shadow above him and it was Draco with his right fist cocked back in the air ready to pummel him into the ground. Draco came crashing down like a speeding bullet and smashed Cardin into the ground. Causing him to let go of Velvet's ear. Cardin was outcold and the rest of his team started to run with their tails between their legs. Draco got up and saw that Velvet was nervous. Draco"Are you alright?" Velvet looked up at him and said"Yes. Thank you for helping me." Draco could tell that she was still in pain so he raised his hand and placed it on the ear that Cardin was hurting. Velvet closed here eyes and thought she would get more pain. But she was wrong. Draco was massaging her hurt ear to make it feel better. Velvet started to blush as she was feeling better and better thanks to Draco's firm yet gentle touch. Draco also put some of his healing magic into his hand so she would feel even better. Once he was done healing her Draco let go of Velvet's ear. Draco"Do you feel better now?" Velvet looked up at him and said"Yes. And thank you very much for helping me." Draco smiled and said"You don't need to thank me. I was just doing what anyone should have done." Velvet started to walk away but as she did she started to get strange images in her head. They were of Draco in knight armor and she was a princess that he had sworn to protect. Back with Draco he was walking back to the two teams and sat back down at the table. Ruby was the first to say anything. Ruby"That was amazing! You just summoned a shield jumped into the air then bashed that jerks head into the ground!" Yang smiled and said"Yay you stood up to Cardin and his team when no one else would." Draco smiled and said"We all have stand up for each other. Or else we would just start to turn on one another." Blake smiled at Draco because of the kindness that he showed to velvet. But she did have one question for Draco that she needed an answer for. Blake"Hey Draco. What do you think of Faunas." Draco looked at her and smiled"They are still people so they still deserve respect." That caused her to smile but what he said next made her blush. Draco"Not to mention that the female Faunas are very beautiful. Back in my dimension thousands of people dreamed about dating a girl with animal traits like a faunas has. Me being one of them." Blake stuttered and said"What would you do if I was a Faunas?" Draco smiled and said"I would kiss you. And cuddle you and snuggle with you every chance I got." All the girls on team RWBY got atomic blushes as they imagined him doing that to them. But Blake almost had steam coming out of her head as he said that to her she almost felt like fainting right there. But before they could continue the conversation they were called to Ozpin's office. When they got there they were told that they were going to go on a mission to exterminate some Grimm so a town near vale wouldn't be destroyed. They gladly accepted it and headed out straight away. Once they were at the area they were almost immediately attacked by Grimm. They managed to kill half of them but then had to fallback because of how many there were. But once they got to the cave they were surrounded and had to fight for their lives. The girls were holding their own but unfortunately they don't have a large quantity of stamina like Draco does. As they were running out of stamina they began to take more hits from the Grimm. But thankfully Draco managed to get them inside the cave where they would be safe for a little bit at least.
Now back to the present. Draco was doing all that he could to keep team RWBY safe from the Grimm. But he knew that they shield wouldn't last for long. So Draco made a choice that might cost him his life. He dropped the shield for a minute then when he used the shield to punch an Ursa Grimm in the face he punched the shield into the ground in front of the cave and recreated the barrier that kept them safe but before it was fully formed he let go of the shield and jumped outside to face the Grimm on his own. As soon as the barrier was reformed the girls woke up and saw what was protecting the, from the Grimm. They moved to the ice barrier and what they saw made them want to cry. It was Draco facing the last of the Grimm on his own. Draco summoned his armor and DragonBane sword ready to fight against the evil beasts that want to kill his friends. Draco charged at the Grimm ready to strike down the beasts. Draco stabbed the first beast right in the head instantly killing it. Then five more came right up behind them and were about to strike him down.
Ruby"Draco behind you!"
Weiss"He can't here through this ice!"
Blake"We have to warn him!"
Yang"But how?!"
But what happened next surprised them. Draco turned around and swung his sword with all of his might decapitating all five of them at once leaving fourteen Ursa Grimm left. Draco looked at them in his fighting stance and said"I am your destroyer. I am the slayer of monster. I am Draco DOVAHKIIN! Last of the Argonian Dragonborn!" All the Grimm charged at him thinking that they will kill him easily with their numbers. But they were wrong about that. Draco raised his sword DragonBane and charged back at them ready to finish the fight to save his friends. But the girls were still crying because they were afraid that he wouldn't make since they had grown feelings for the young Argonian warrior.
Ruby"We have to do something!"
Weiss"What can we do?!"
As they discussed on how to help Draco he was fighting off the remaining Grimm. Two of them came at him but he sliced them both in half from the sides. Then three more came at him from behind with a jump strike. But Draco saw them and summoned a second sword in his left hand and threw it at the closet ones head killing it in one shot. Then he jumped above the two remaining Grimm that were coming at him and sliced off their heads. Draco then saw that only half of the Grimm that surrounded them were still alive. But they grew smarter as the fight progressed. He could see it in their eyes. They had a plan. And a plan they had. All ten of the remaining Grimm charged him at once planing to overwhelm him with their numbers. But he knew he had to survive for the girls. Draco summoned all of his power into his blade and charged right at the ten remaining Grimm. But team RWBY were still crying because they didn't think he could kill the last of the ten remaining Grimm. They were punching and hitting the ice barrier but their attack were amounting to nothing.
Ruby said"We have to help him!" As she tried to break the ice with her scythe.
Yang said"Keep hitting it!" As Yang punched it with her ember celiac gauntlets.
But even though they kept hitting the barrier with everything they had it wasn't breaking at all. Draco was slashing right through the Grimm slashing and stabbing them with all of his might. But even though he was tired he kept at it and never gave up. Once Draco finished off the last of the Grimm he limped over to barrier and grabbed his shield retracting the barrier back into his shield letting the girls out of the cave. Team RWBY ran right at Draco and tackled him in a giant hug as they cried into his chest. Draco"Are you girls ok?" The girls looked and him and said at the same time"We should be asking you that you idiot!" As they cried a bullhead started to land next to them. The girls picked Draco up brought him to the ship so they could get themselves back to beacon to get healed up. As they headed back to beacon the girls looked at the sleeping Draco and knew that they needed to tell him how they truly feel about him.
