Chapter One - The Antonio Perez

*************************

Kitty and Heather North are having intensely heated argument over which Romance movie is way (they would say) better.

Heather, as Kitty have gathered over the years of their friendship, is never backing down.

"Heather, I said, I prefer A Walk To Remember over The Time Traveler's Wife. I didn't say It's better."

"No! Why would you prefer it over TTTW? It's way, way better than AWTR. We both know it!" Heather insisted, her persuasive manner resurfacing the ground.

Kitty sighed, tired for arguing with Heather for almost an hour. She agree with Heather that TTTW's story line can well up more tears to most people. But, (she would say) she preferred AWTR. As she can gather, AWTR is more realistic than TTTW.

She admired Landon Carter (or Nicholas Sparks) for his character has, well, character. That kind of character that can develop feelings just by reading a book. As for TTTW, even though deep in her heart she knows what a great story it is, she just simply sees it as none other than Fiction.

"I give up!" Kitty raised both her hands up as for the universal sign of surrender. Her voice reeking defeat.

Heather narrowed her eyes at Kitty, knowing she just doing it to make her stop. She raised her chin, looking down at her defeated friend, waiting for some magic words.

Ugh! "Alright! I like Time Traveler's Wife than A Walk To Remember!"

Not missing the fact that she cut out TTTW's title, she glared down at Kitty. "The Time Traveler's Wife, I mean!" Kitty quickly amended after realizing that she gave out a clue behind her lie.

"Prove it." Her friend challenge.

Kitty gaped up at her friend, "Pro—Prove it!? Are you serious!? Heather, We're not three!"

"Yes, you're right! isn't it obvious? We're alone in your room!" She replied sarcastically.

"I mean—Argh! Forget it!" She slumped her shoulders, "Cons."

"You'll come with me tonight."

Kitty narrowed her eyes, seeing the mischievous glint in her friend's eyes that usually stuck out with a pair of trouble. With caution, "Where?"

If it would be possible that Heather's grin grew wider, well, it did.

"Eleganza." Before Kitty could utter a protest, "Just for tonight! Com'on, this is our last teenage year and I still haven't seen you partying! Plus, the bar is totally famous and probably on top, they can assure our safety. We'll be back after midnight, limbs intact."

"I'm not sure about this, Heather. We both know what'll it held us." Kitty protested

"Kit, these year is our last teenage year. Please, live like one for once in a while." Heather begged, "Consider this as your alternative birthday gift."

Kitty considered her words, it wasn't a lie that they aren't staying teenagers. On the other side of her reasonable mind, it's not like adults aren't allowed in Eleganza, In fact, as young as seventeen could slip right through the double doors. Plus, knowing Heather's persuasive self, she wouldn't win any argument, including this.

Deciding to give herself a favor and save time for no further arguments, she hesitantly accepted the offer on one condition.

"No alcohol for the both of us."
