He felt that the universe had been set into rewind, contracting into the giant ball of matter it had once been with its intensive gravitational force; all of it hammering his head. He screamed- as if mourning for all the lives he'd taken, but he couldn't hear himself, he was speeding to a place meant for humans who had committed more than sin.

Light Yagami was making his way to a place which was neither heaven nor hell.

"Kare wa chōdo ishiki fumei ni narimashita ka?" Translating: Did he just fall unconscious? Then it hit the Death God, "Is he dead?"

"He'd been looking out for that girl for a long time now. Then her time came..
Now we have another Note to worry about." Another Death God, that is a Shinigami, said peevishly. Death Notes were making their way to the Human World more frequently than before.

"I'll take care of that!" Said a Shinigami with spiked hair and a sinister smile. "He was a very good friend of mine and I will make sure that justice is done to him by delivering the Death Note to the rightful owner."

"Near, I think I need some time. I request you."

Near wanted to protest but he decided against it. "Wakarimashita, Matsuda." I understand, he said.

It had happened faster than Ryuk had thought.

Chloe had been sitting in a church muttering a prayer. Ryuk had strained to listen as he, for some reason liked to maintain some distance, although he was invisible to the human eye.

"Jesus, have mercy on me." She mumbled, a determined look in her face, her eyes shut tight, her body swaying back and forth while she sat on the wooden bench.

"I promise you that it wasn't intended. I am a believer of peace and harmony, never would, even in the clutches of anger, would I hurt anyone- physically or even emotionally."

She chimed a short prayer, then finally stood up and crossed herself.

Ryuk let out a sigh. He felt exasperated; he'd jumped into a seeming abyss, all for delivering a Death Note to the girl for whom one of his best friends had died. If Ryuk had known that his target- Chloe, the girl standing in front of him- would so much as drown herself, hearing the word sin, he would have changed his decision about sacrificing his friend's life.

Matsuda stared at the specks of dust that danced in the sunlight that creeped through the tiny gap in the curtain.

He'd grieved enough and was knackered, only staring wide-eyed. Yagami Light's death had moved him more than he anticipated. He'd practically murdered him and was grateful to Near for not detaining him. After asking Near for a few days off, he'd fallen into deep thought; he wondered if he could execute it- if he dared enough.

Ryuk had strategically planned it. And he'd sacrificed Grim- one of his Shinigami friends. Ryuk knew Grim had something different for Chloe, he would spend long hours just watching her. Ryuk decided to take advantage- he couldn't settle back into his life surrounded by boredom after his acquaintance with Light and the police forces.

Ryuk had penned Chloe's name in his Death Note while envisaging her square, perfect face. He had planned it all, elongating her death by inking some details too.

Grim, while admiring her from his world, saw that the red alphabets and numbers hovering over her, had suddenly changed form.

He knew in that instant that she stepped closer to death every second and that one of the Gods had intended to do it- the letters surrounding her only showed seconds before her death.
