It was a cold winter night with temperatures under 0 degrees and near the base of the great big tree sat a little owl, shivering in the cold. He was only about 4 months old. It had been about a day since his parents were shot down from their tree for being in somebody's yard, leaving nobody to care for and feed the poor baby. He would surely die from the cold soon as he was covered from head to toe in the cold snow.

Walking along a sidewalk, 15 year old Aliyah Williams stops to look at all the snow covered trees when she spots something moving in the corner of her eye. 'Just a rabbit.' She thought to herself before she looked over to see it and what she saw made her heart ache. There sat the little owl at the base of a tree covered in snow. Aliyah instantly rushed over and scooped up the poor little guy. Aliyah was the kind of girl who is always so sweet and cares about the wellbeing of others, even if they aren't human, but if you make her mad, she WILL break you.

Aliyah rushed the owl to her home where she hurried inside, not even bothering to say hello to her father as she jogged up to her room. Once she got there, she set the owl down on her bed and grabbed a towel and blanket and went back to the baby. She quickly dried the snow off of him and rapped him in a fluffy blanket to warm him up more. Aliyah was surprised that he let her do this, so she knew that he must have been desperate because the owl is still a wild animal. Not long after she did this, the owl fell asleep, leaving Aliyah by herself. "Hmm. I'm gonna call you Reegan." She said with a smile.

Just then her dad walked in, asking her why she just rushed in. She explained to her father what happened. After a minute of begging, her dad agreed to let her keep the owl after they took him to the vet to make sure he was ok. That is how their friendship began.
