The train swayed gently back and forth, pulling in to the next stop. People lined up at the doors, waiting their turn to depart. A woman's voice spoke harshly into a phone, directing an elderly parent how to use their computer once again. The stark yellow light made it hard to see out the windows.
You step out into the brisk winter night, feeling the cold catch in your lungs. Bodies rush to and fro, rushing to their safety of their cars and away into the weekend. You weave through the crowd as you walk in the opposite direction of everyone else. You catch the eye of tall, plump lady and smile at one another.
Soon the engine of the train passes and you're left to the silence of the cars leaving the parking lot. An orange glow from the lights paints the world, but soon you leave even those behind.
The walk is short but another small moment to empty your brain if the day's worries. Idle use of your phone find the void you once reserved for silent moments of thought. You scroll through useless article and pointless blog before putting the phone away to enjoy the works around you.
The red glow of brake lights for the area, combating the full moon's glow, softened by a thin veneer of cloud. A light breeze caresses your skin, crisp but not freezing now that you've adjusted to the outside. The odd set of Christmas lights bring a smile to your face, reminding you of someone close to your heart.
Through a park you walk, the neighborhood now silent as you leave the busy roads and walk in the tightly packed houses. The winter evening is a cool respite from the constant walk of technology you're faced with every day. Even now, you hear the songs of the city calling on the edge of your hearing.
Soon you are traveling again, responsibilities beckoning you to reality. You sit, waiting for the engine to hear while "Hallelujah" thumps from the stereo, making you smile. The harmony of five voices is artfully done and you take a moment to just appreciate it.
The car is now in gear and you've made a decision. A short drive later and you lock the car. The moderately lit garage is silent but for your footsteps and the ride up the elevator quiet. You unlock the door and are greeted by a stretching dog, tail gently wagging in broad sweeps. You both rush to the couch and have a moment of comfort before good beckons and you go about your night.
