If I would have never clicked that music video, my life would have been completely different.
Summer of 2014:
The words "SKOOL LUV AFFAIR" called my attention as I hovered my mouse cursor over the video. I finally clicked it, I couldn't stop watching.
It was an instant obsession, I had to know who they were... I just had to.
Kim Namjoon... Kim Seok Jin... Min Yoongi... Jeong Hoseok... Park Jimin... Kim Taehyung... Jeong Jungkook... BTS.
Is this a cult? Why the chant? I loved it though as I found myself repeating it all day.
I was going overboard.
Do other Americans like this too? Jesus... at least I'm half Korean they'll just think,
"Oh, that's normal!"
Did I just make a racist joke towards myself?
I quickly searched for their latest album and bought it, no questions asked.
-SKOOL LUV AFFAIR.-
And... I may have bought the first one too.
They were so cute though... well the one with the gummy smile looks like he could be a bad boy.
What was his name... Min Yoongi... known as Suga.
I like this guy... a lot.
I must tell my mother about this.
"Guess what!!!" I say laying on her bed.
"What?" She says, eyes glued to her phone.
"I found this new group... they're Korean... really talented." I hum.
"That's great... Finally, you show interest in your main culture." My mom chuckles.
"Hey! I love Korean culture." I huff.
"Yeah yeah... I asked you if you wanted to meet your grandparents next year and stay with them for a few months and you said, 'But I love America.'"
"W-Well... Can we go? Like...please please I need to meet my man!!" I whine,
"하지마! I told you next year... we'll go." She shakes her head and chuckles.
I squeal and smile, "Anyways... this is my boyfriend." I show her my background.
Have you ever seen such beauty?
She laughs and shakes her head,
"Alright... have fun with that... I'm glad you like something new...I'm really happy you're interested in my side of the family." She says,
"I'm regretting not liking it sooner.. I'm sorry ma... See you!" I walk out to go straight to my room to do more research.
