Never did I ask them for anything. Treach nor Lisa. After that moment, I knew that they were two people that I could count on and trust. They were my friends, I just had to convince my heart that. My moms fucked it up for everyone after the continuous disappearing acts she would do. I'd let her in and allowed her to whisper bullshit in my ear, only for her to continue the same stuff over again.

So when Lisa and Anthony did that favor for me, I didn't know how to react nor what to think about them. I slowly opened up to them.

I tilted my head to the left to get a better view of the board because Gil's big ass head was blocking my view.

"Damn, man. Move your head. I can't see." I tapped his shoulder to let him know that I was talking to him. He muttered slick shit underneath his breath before shifting to the other side in his seat, giving me a better view. I ignored what he'd said and wrote down the page numbers that the teacher sloppily scribbled on the board. Once I got the page numbers down I opened the textbook that was next to me and got started on my work.

I felt a tap on my shoulder, causing me to stop writing. I turned around in my chair and Ro was pointing towards the door. I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion as I tried to figure out what it was that she wanted. "What?"

"Turn around and do your work, Crooks!"

I gave Ro a smug look before turning around in my seat, I glanced up and saw the teacher looking at me over the edge of her cup of coffee. I smacked my lips and tore my eyes away from her and started back working on my work.

I looked back at Ro for a clue but she had already started up a conversation with someone beside her. I shrugged it off and finished the last of my work so the teacher won't get pissed. Even though I'm the only one in here that does her assignments.

The bell rung and the class instantly became alive. Kids rose their heads from the desk with lines of slobber coming up with them and some ran out rather quickly. I waited until the room cleared out until I stood up and turned in my textbook work.

"Here you go." I placed the papers at the edge of her desk as I gripped the arm of my bookbag. She nodded her head and motioned me off with a flick of her hand, causing me to shake my head. I trapped my pencil in between my fingers as I made my way out her room.

"Lesane." I stopped walking and turned around on the heel of my shoe and looked over at her, awaiting a response. She didn't look up at me as she continued talking.

"Keep up the good work."

I couldn't stop the small smile from forming on my face as I took one last look at her. I nodded my head before walking out into the rowdy hallway.

"I promise you. You won't be sorry if you hook up with us." I rubbed the back of my neck nervously as I walked alongside Anthony on the way to This Is It restaurant. I don't know what to say in response to his comment because I really don't wanna fuck up and mess everything up. If I go to jail or get caught, that'll leave my little sister in the cold and I'm damn sure not gonna let that happen.

But my options are wearing thin.

I stop walking and glance over at Anthony for a minute. He stopped talking and turned around once he realized that I was no longer walking alongside of him. He looked at me with a confused expression before talking again.

He looked at me for awhile before he smacked his lips. "Man, I'm just fucking with you. You ain't gotta do shit you don't wanna do." I chuckle as I caught up to him. I shoved my hands in my pockets as he draped his arm over my shoulder.
