7 years. Aiko was 14 now, and she knew a lot more about why her parents left her at the age of seven. They were part of a rebellion against the government, but that didn't concern her. What did concern her was that her last days at the orphanage were drawing near and that she would have to move into some apartment building and live on her own.

She was just about ready to say goodbye to her friends that she had spend a lot of her life with when she heard a scream from outside.

Aiko could immediately infer that it was a scream from someone from the government. What she called a "rich scream." She walked outside to see the man who had screamed in front of a boy. His lips were chaped and he had blood stains on his clothes, which were way too big for him.

A soldier came over and said "What is the problem, my lord?" "Get this filthy scum out of my sight", the so called "lord" exclaimed. "Immediately, my lord", the soldier said, dragging the boy to an alleyway. She knew what was about to happen, it happened all the time. "Poor boy" one of the caretakers of the orphanage said, as Aiko heard the gunshots. No matter how much "it" happened, no one got used to it. Aiko could feel the sting of tears hit her eyes.

A boy ran over to her and wiped the tears off of her face. "What are you doing", she asked. "My name's Shin, nice to meet you", exclaimed the boy. "You didn't answer my question" said Aiko. The conversation was distracting her from what was happening outside, but she didn't mind. "I don't like to see cute girls cry", Shin exclaimed. Aiko felt a huge blush rush to her face. Who is this, she thought.
