Goodnight.
Meg blinked twice and stared at her cellphone screen. An unsent message sat on her inbox, intended for her long time friend, Alex Chu. He was texting her last night before she went to bed regarding the preparations for the day and because she was crying the rest of the night, she didn't manage to respond to Alex properly.
Meg sighs, deletes the message and instead types in, "Good Morning, Chef!" and sends it over. Then without waiting for a response, she heads off to her closet, picks up a brand new yellow towel from her pile and heads straight to her bathroom. Stopping infront of the mirror she looks at her eyes and groans. It was puffy from all the crying. She did actually cried herself to sleep.
"Bravo Meg, now you have to spend a ton of time doing your make-up!" Meg mutters to herself as she enters the shower room.
Sighing internally, Meg takes her shower and immediately dresses up right after. Tying a towel on her head to help dry her hair, she walks towards her son's room to check if he's already awake.
"Alex?" Meg says while knocking on the door.
No response.
She opens the door and peaks inside his room, Alex is still sound asleep on his bed, facing the other side, away from the door. Smiling, Meg enters the room and approaches the bed. She sits down and looks at her son's sleeping face.
A memory flashes into her mind of the same exact face sleeping beside her. A smile lurked on his lips as he slept. Contentment and happiness was written all over his features.
Sighing, Meg shakes herself from her memories and reaches out to touch Alex's face. Moving the hair that was covering his eyes, Meg lays her hand on his cheeks, loving the softness of it, then moving her hands on his shoulders, Meg shakes Alex gently to wake him.
He stirs on her third attempt, making Meg smile.
"Hey baby." Meg says as Alex turns towards her, still with his eyes closed.
Meg chuckles, "Come on, Alex. Time to wake up." she says, laughter in her voice, shaking Alex again.
"Mmm..Mom." Alex mutters, rolling on the bed.
"It's time to wake up baby, we have a big day today." Meg says patting Alex's hand.
Alex slowly opens his eyes and peaks at Meg, "Are we meeting Dad today?"
Meg scratches her head and chuckles, "No baby, not today.", she gives him a big smile, "Launching today remember?"
Alex opens his eyes wide and smiles, "I'm going to see Uncle Alex today too?" he says his voice excited.
Meg grns at this, "Yes! He's coming over to help me later!"
Alex immediately sits down and hops off the bed, "Okay Mom! I'll go ahead and take a bath now!"
Meg laughs and stands up, "Alright then, I'll be waiting for you downstairs" she walks towards the door, "But don't rush and make sure you dress well today for the launching!" Meg says as she walks back towards her room.
Grateful that Alex knows how to take a bath on his own and dress himself (he's actually very adamant on choosing his own clothes since he was 4), Meg proceeds to drying her hair and putting on make up to at least hide the puffiness of her eyes. After a while (that almost took an hour), she goes downstairs and pours strawberry milk on two glasses--one for her and one for Alex. She drinks her share and reaches out for the cereal box on top of the fridge. In all truth, it was already 10 in the mornng and if she didn't have something big going on that day, she would've prepared something better for their breakfast or lunch, but as they both slept late last night and slept in late this morning due to Alex's birthday party yesterday, there wasn't much of a choice. Besides, there's tons of food later at the launch, food won't surely be a problem today.
