I was brushing on some blush while Rachel curled my hair. Braylee was strapping on her high heels, the boys were brushing their teeth except for Trey. I had on a nice pair of jeans, boots, and a silver shirt. I smiled.
"Ooh, I can't wait to see Mrs. D and Mrs. K," Braylee and I squealed. Rachel was going to see Mrs. E. I turned towards the mirror and gasped. I looked, well, stunning. Then there was a knocking at the door.
Braylee shrugged and opened the squeaky door. There stood Trey. We all looked at each other. Braylee had broken up with him a few days ago.
"Hello, Trey," Rachel muttered in a hissy voice. I was scared. The boys hadn't been seen yet, so they came and hid behind a wall.
"Long time no see," Trey evenly replied. I hadn't been seen either, so I quietly crouched down behind the counter and headed to the door.
"Now, I believe that there is a midget running around with you. Where is she??" He demanded. Before Trey could scream, Tate latched onto Trey, twisted his arms behind his back, and slammed him onto the ground. I pirouetted around and went to my room, grabbed ribbon, and tied his arms together. Hatred burned in Trey's eyes.
"You cursed my name. You will pay," he snarled. I rolled my eyes and stood him up. We walked him to his car door, untied him, and made him drive off. We all breathed a sigh of relief.*** Soon, Tate was dropping us off at the Elementary school entrance. Braylee had gone back to herself, and was wearing an excited little kid grin. Rachel unlocked the car doors and we all piled out. The boys ran up to the office, while I hung back. I adjusted my glasses, patted down my hair, and got ready to meet the thunder of kiddos. (Our lucky 2017 year had gotten picked to be during a school day.) A new secretary greeted us.
"Why, hello," she murmured. "You, in the glasses. You won the t shirt contest in sixth, huh?" I nodded. She beckoned us in. I saw my friend Maia W., Cadence, and Tate's friend, Jackson. Jackson had a freezing grin on his face.
I ran down the stairs to my classroom. Mrs. K was there, along with some melancholy kids. Tate waved me off and headed to his old class with Mrs. P.
"Hey, Kylie, how's it going?" She greeted me. I nodded.
"Joyce Anne, meet my old pupil Kylie. Tryna, meet Kylie. Jacobb, here's Kylie." She guided his hand to my face. He smiled. I knew he was blind. The fourth student, Riley, signed something to me. With a quick finger, I told him I don't know much sign language. He made an O shape. Joyce Anne was in a wheelchair. Tryna was missing a thumb.
To Jacobb, I told him that Mrs. K was a very generous teacher. To Joyce Anne, I gave her a hug. I told her one of my old friends was in a wheelchair just like her. Tryna was given a poem. And Riley was signed that he had an awesome teacher. Tears filled Mrs. K's eyes. I stepped into her classroom. The desks were all nither nather and scarves were draped along the ceiling. I couldn't wait to spend the day with one of my favorite teachers.
