The blanket of darkness covered the city, with only the moon shielding it from the pure shadows, the various stars that filled the boulevards, easily, kept the citizens and tourists busy... and not looking at the sky. The millions of stars danced in the inky navy-tinged-blackness, forming shapes and constellations, the broken clouds made the moon seem like a jigsaw puzzle, broken, waiting to be reformed.
Zatanna Zatara was performing that night in Gotham; it was for a party the infamous Bruce Wayne was holding. The sparkling dress glistened in the stage lights, the eyes of countless on the young magician. She, of course, was only the opening act; the main event was for Dinah Drake, A.K.A the Black Canary, she was to grace the audience with her voice. Oliver Queen was at the back of the audience, along with Bruce, discussing their nightly escapade, among all things. Dick Grayson and Jason Todd, the adopted sons of the Bat, sat at a table near the bar, catching up on long time. Selina Kyle, the Catwoman, was with her fiancé, Bruce Wayne himself. She wasn't paying much attention to the conversation her spouse-to-be was having, paying more attention to the partygoers as they mingled and talked with each other, she even spotted a few of her fellow vigilantes.
However, this was not where our story starts. Instead, we move to the roof, where we see a young man, draped in navy blue and grey, a red bag secured, almost flatly, to his back. His cap was on snugly and his yellow hood, attached to his navy shirt, was at rest on his back, just above the bag. In the man's hands was the most iconic piece in his whole arsenal, his cane. The wooden shaft twisted its way up and into the thief's gloved hand: the wood had secured the most valued thing to the man, the golden C that stood for more than just his family name. It stood for the legacy, the burden and, occasionally, the curse he held on his shoulders.
The man sat here on the edge of the building, looking out towards the city in awe, but his eyes held a heavy past that was unmatched. The Gotham skyline was one of the most beautiful things on earth, once you got past all the murderous, psychotic criminals that run rampant in the city, but tonight was quiet and not unsettlingly so. The man got up and jumped down and into the ally where he found his car waiting for him, right where he left it.
The young man was quick to change, from his normal uniform and into something a little more....appropriate. Once dressed in his outfit, the man set his clothes and cane into the trunk once he locked the door, the man left the ally, straightening his tie, and made his way to the entrance of the building. He was the plus one for Cassandra Cain, the adoptive daughter of Batman.
"Sly!" A voice called behind him, spinning on his heel the man, now named Sly, locked eyes with his evenings date. The lovely Cassandra Cain. She wore a black dress that cut off at her knees, black high heel boots, and her short black hair was cut perfectly, stopping at her neck, just before her collarbone. Once she caught up to Sly, who smoothly offered his arm to her, which she accepted, she apologized. "Sorry to keep you waiting, I had some last minute work stuff."
"All good, I was scared I kept you waiting." Sly replied, grinning his signature grin. They walked into the gala, arm in arm and they meet with Bruce and Selina.
"Dad, this is Sly. Sly this is my dad." Cassandra introduced her boyfriend to her adoptive father.
"Sly, Sly Cooper. Pleasure to meet you officially." Sly extended his arm, which Bruce accepted halfway.
"Bruce Wayne, the pleasure's all mine. You have quite the grip." Bruce complimented.
Letting go of his hand, Sly thanked him the compliment and went to grab a drink from the bar.
