*the next day, 11 am, Daniel's POV*

I'm gonna text Ali, just to see what she's up to today.

Daniel
Hey Ali, good morning💕

hello?

ok I'm worried you're always up by now, you even told me you never sleep in past 9

whatever today could be different, maybe you slept in...

That's weird, she never sleeps in. Maybe her phone is dead. I'll just go to her house, I'm sure she won't mind. I️ just have to make sure she's ok.

I drove over and walked up to the door, by now it's 1 pm. I knock on the door. No answer. I knock again. Still no answer.

"hello hello anyone here??" I say still knocking on the door.

I hear the lock twist and the door opens.

"Daniel!? What are you doing here" Taylor says yawning.

"I'm looking for Ali is she here?"

"I️ mean I️ don't know you just kind of woke me up just now"

"You're joking right, it's 1 o'clock!"

"And? I️ like my sleep"

"Ok whatever sorry, is Ali here?"

"I️ don't know come in and check...I️ don't  see why she isn't here."

Taylor showed me to her room, her bed was a mess, clothes on her floor, but she wasn't there.

"Where is she!" Taylor said with a shocked look.

"I️ don't know, shouldn't you know, you are her roommate and best friend!"

"I mean yea, but she's and independent person, she doesn't like me getting in her business sometimes."

"Well, you're her best friend, do you know where she would be?"

"No not really, LA is pretty big she could be anywhere."

"Wait...I know where she is, come on I'll drive"

"Wait what! Daniel where is she?" Taylor questions.

"A cafe"

"Huh?"

"It's a long story but I️ know she'll be here"

Taylor and I got into the car and I began to drive. We drove for about a half an hour before we arrived at the cafe. I parked the car and jumped out quickly rushing through the door, searching and scanning the room to find Ali. Then I saw her, she was walking out of the bathroom and wiping tears from her eyes. I saw her and immediately knew something was wrong. I rushed over to her and wrapped my arms tightly around her waist.

*Ali's POV*

I walked out from the bathroom and immediately felt arms wrap around me. I first thought I was being robbed or something but I️ looked up and saw Daniel's sweet face.

"Omg Daniel! What are you doing here?" I️ said trying to smile as I️ wiped tears from my face.

"Looking for you, what's wrong, why didn't you answer me?" he said as he cupped my face with his hands and wiped a tear away.

"I️-I d-don't know how to tell you"

"Tell me what? What's wrong."

"I-It's my mom, s-she has cancer."

As soon as I said those words I lost it.

I fell to the floor, balling my eyes out. But he stayed with me, Daniel sat in the middle of the floor hugging me tight, keeping me safe.

"Shhh it's gonna be okay"

"No it's not, I need her. What if something happens to her." I said, not sure if Daniel could understand me over my sobs.

"I'm sure your mom is strong, I'll be here, whenever and wherever.

"Thank you." I looked up and kissed his cheek

"When did you find out?"

"Last night, at the park."

"What! Why didn't you say anything?"

"I️ didn't want you to worry, it was a date I didn't want to ruin it."

"That's why you asked me to take you home."

"Yea, I'm sorry I should have told you"

"No, it's ok just know I'm here whenever you need me."

"Yea I know thank you, but I️ just needed time to think, so this morning I️ turned my phone off, left it in my room, and snuck out of the house."

"So that's why you didn't answer this morning"

"Oh you texted me?"

"Yea but you weren't answering so I️ went to your house, Taylor had jus woken up and you weren't there."

"Classic Taylor" I said and slightly laughed

Daniel and I were in the middle of the floor. He was comforting me and I️ was crying. I stopped crying but we were still in the middle of the floor then he looked up to me and said...
