Mirrors

It was Sips. Sips who called my name when I needed it most. Sips who came to calm me down when I needed it.

And all I could think of Duncan.

I can feel the guilt eating away at me. I feel so....sick. Obviously I am worried about Duncan but Sips is trying to help and all I'm doing is second besting him to a man that isn't even here right now. A man I miss so much.

I sit on a huge round bed in the middle of the bedroom that I have been allocated at yoglabs. It is giant with a whole wall that is made out of glass. Outside are fresh flowers and trees and lakes. It's all artificial of course, but it's what I need right now. It's getting late though. I'm so tired, I probably need some sleep.

I lay down in the bed and I am drowning blankets and pillows. It's the most peaceful I have been since this started. I try everything and get into that nice state of mind before I sleep. It probably won't last for long.

Im in a room. It's a long room, full of mirrors. I can't escape them, it's like a maze. I look down at my hands. There is no blood or mud or flux. They are like they use to be. I feel my face and can tell that's cured to. Everything's back to normal.

But in the mirror when I look, is this dark twisted image of the monster inside of me. It, or she, looks exactly like me part from the fact that her face is twisted into a haunted smile and the blood that resides on her lips. She's killed people. The flux has spread all over her. She's hardly human. I run. As the mirrors stretch out she continues to run beside me. But soon someone begins to call my name.

"Kim!"

I recognise the voice immediately. As I turn the corner into the next room. I can see the reflection of the white lab coat and blonde hair.

"Duncan!" I run in and hug him tighter than I've ever hugged anyone before.

Except I look up and it isn't Duncan, it's Sips. The reflection shows Duncan though. And Sips voice sounds like Duncan. I look back in the mirror and the more I hug Sips the more that thing gets to hug Duncan. I back out slowly terrified and run down the corridor into the final room. Except I can't. Because this time I'm trapped in the mirror and have to helplessly watch as the creature inside walks in. I've lost control. I look into the corner to see the other person only to see Honeydew back into the light. He comes up to the creature and tries to help her. But she only shoots him down using the flux as a weapon. She then turns to me and stares at me through the glass and takes aim.

Readying to kill me.

I wake up in a cold sweat and push the covers me. What was that. That was terrifying. I'm freaking out. I run to the door at the back of the of the bedroom and push it open. It a small private bathroom. I turn the tap on and place my hands under the freezing water and rubbing it over my face. I look up and into the mirror above the basin and suddenly I'm so angry. At myself, at Lewis, at Duncan for leaving me.

The thing that happens I don't control. I do it but I don't fell like I'm doing anything. It's all a blur. The scream that comes out of my mouth, the shattering sound and the pain in my right hand. When I can actually control myself again, I'm on the floor with shards of glass from the mirror and black strands of hair. I drop the shard that's in my right hand. It's oozing with blood a giant cut that runs across the hand.

"Shit..."

I stand up and open the draw with my other hand to see a bandage next a small hand mirror.

So many mirrors.

After I've bandaged up my hand quite badly, I pick up the other mirror. My hair now only comes down to my chin when it use to cascade down my shoulders. Though even though at first I'm shocked, something about it makes me feel like this a new chance for me. I smile at myself in the mirror the weight lift off my shoulders and decide to go back to sleep.

DARK MYST FUN FACT: in Asian culture to cut your hair short symbolises a fresh start. This can explain why Kim is feels like she has a new chance when she has cut her hair short.
