Dear Mama,
How are you and everyone else? I hope that you are all doing fine, and that you are not struggling with life. I sent you some money a few days ago; did you receive it?
I am so sorry for leaving, but as you know, I left you a note which I hope has explained everything to you. There are too many push factors in Mexico, for example lack of money, few jobs, poor healthcare, a high level of poverty and civil unrest.
In America, however, there are good living conditions, education, suitable housing, good healthcare facilities, a safe and welcoming environment, better quality of life, tourists attractions, more jobs… I could go on for ages.
You should have told me before about the circumstances that you and Padre were facing earlier. That way, I might have been able to find a job before they were all taken.
I do not know the address of the place I am in; the people will not tell me. So unfortunately I will not be able to hear from you.
However, I am sending you the diary that I wrote on my journey.
And I have a surprise for you all at the very end, but please read the whole story before you find out my surprise…
Your eldest daughter,
Asiyah…
