My Slam is about the LGBT+ Community and their struggles. Some people still don't understand that there are different sexualities. They come up with various reasons although there is not really a difference and I want to teach them that there is nothing wrong with being homosexual; we all have the same in common and share the same hobbies. I would like to encourage people who are homophobic to think about it!
The reason why I decided to write this poem is that I believe in equal rights for everyone no matter which sexuality! I have watched videos in the past where homophobic bullied others, tried to change their minds or kicked them out of a certain place and I think this is absolutely WRONG!
The tone should show my anger and what I think of homophobic people. I tried to emphasize this with emotions, gestures and my voice. I want the readers to feel empathy, sympathy for victims and in case they are still not convinced I want to show them the similarities we all share because some are afraid of the unknown.
The poetic devices I used are exclamations, enjambments, questions, and pauses. With the exclamation in line 1, I wanted to address the haters directly, show its importance and show my anger right from the beginning. The enjambment in line 4 to 5 I wanted to emphasize the negative attitude some people have towards homosexuals. The questions in lines 6, 15 and 20 should question people's thoughts and push them to think about their behavior.
