Purple button down shirt, black slacks, black jacket, and little black flats. A normal day at a normal high school...kinda. I take a deep breath, breathing in the warm spring air. We are returning to school from spring break. As I slowly open the door to The Unity School For The People, I glance over my shoulder at the students filing in behind me, patiently waiting for me to walk inside the building. My light brown hair is pulled into a high ponytail. My name is Chelsea Hamilton, I am 17 years old and live in Father Spirit. Father spirit is the wealthiest and most prosperous town in this horrid country. I glance up from my purple rolling backpack and see my best friend Celeste Green waving at me from down the long hallway. She was wearing an emerald dress that came to her knees, although it was a dress meant to come to your mid to upper thighs. That's how short Celeste was. She had on silver heels to match the glitter accents on her dress, even with the tall shoes she still barely met my shoulders. She gave me a tight hug, released me and smoothed her dress. Celeste was a prime example of her royal family tree. Then again, aren't we all composed on the outside and slowly crumbling on the inside. "Hey girl!" I gave a wide smile and said, "What's up girl!" Her smile slowly faded as she studied my face. Celeste leaned in close and whispered, "You still want to leave don't you?" I look down into her crystal blue eyes and notice for the hundredth time how beautiful they make her bright red hair look. Not only that, she had perfect curves. She leans back and nods, "I knew it Chelsea. I'll help you...but I will not

be going with you." I smile a genuine smile for the first time in forever at her positive words. The bell for our first class rings and we both look up at the giant digital clock on the wall, 8:00 am. March 20, 2138. Celeste sighs and smiles. "Good luck girl. Have fun." I give a shy grin and try to hold back the tears threatening to stream down my cheeks.

"A baby is born every minute. Every baby born has a chip implanted in their brains. The chip is then activated when the human being has their first intense sexual encounter. The chip is placed in them for a few specific reasons; to keep the teen pregnancy rate down, and to help ensure that sex happens with love and love only. When the chip is activated in both the male and female at the exact same moment, they are bound by emotion forever. They can vaguely feel each others main emotions such as grief, joy desire and most of all...love. The bond will stay as long as the two are living. If the two continue a life together-as intentioned by the ground breaking scientists that installed the program- they will become closer and closer until at any moment, they will know how the other is feeling without even being anywhere near that person. If they separate, things can become disastrous. Very, very quickly if their relationship was an intense one. If they only had sex once, the other person's feelings will be fuzzy in the others mind, but they will always be there. The more and more times they are involved, the stronger the bond will become. If an individual bonds with more than one person, that being will have to deal with the constant feeling of someone they no longer want in their head, always being there. Due to this fact, the rate of suicide has escalated very quickly. Many people don't understand how extreme this makes a relationship. People make bad choices and can no longer live with them." I sit in government statistics from 8:00 in the morning until 2:00 in the afternoon. My teacher, Mr. Paterson, speaks in a loud, fast monotone. I don't mind, I comprehend well, so I learn things I don't even want to learn. We learn how the chips in our heads work, we learn how the spirit ranking system works and how it is operated. Weak spirits are often very poor and they often have many children without birth certificates or chips in their heads, nine times out of ten the government doesn't even know bout the poor people's children, but they don't care. I have always wanted to go live in the Christ spirit, even though it is one of the lowest on the Spirit Ranking System. Celeste has agreed to help me go out against our cruel and harsh government for me to go attend study classes there. I feel as if I would belong there.
