"He's hot." I gawk, talking to my best friend, Arianna.
"Who is?"
"The new kid. I don't know his name, but he's super hot." I say, looking at the new kid, standing by his friends.
"He's not a student." She giggles.
"What do you mean? He's standing with the other boys, and he looks our age." I look at her.
"I mean exactly what I said. He isn't a student. Yes, he is our age, but he's a T.A." She looks at me, confused.
"He's a Teacher's Assistant? He's gotta be the youngest one." I gasp. "Don't they have to be twenty something?"
"Well, yeah. That's why he is the youngest one, least in our state. Also, why he's talking to the boys. Those are probably his friends." She laughs.
I start to ask her what his name is, but the ring of the school bell, rang through my head. I shrug, thinking I'll find out later and hug her goodbye. My first period class is gym, her's is AP English. I put my headphones in and walk towards the gym. As I'm walking, looking at my phone, I suddenly bump into something. Without looking up, I assume it's a person and quietly mumble "Sorry." I hear a deep voice mumble, and I pull out my right earbud. "I'm sorry. I didn't....... hear...... you." I slow down speaking, as I look up at the new boy, teacher's assistant, whatever he is.
"Oh. I just said it's okay, I wasn't paying attention. This is the class I'm assisting in." He says, pointing to the Science room.
"Oh. I wasn't paying attention to where I was going. Science is my next class. Mr. Hernandez is a great teacher. He should be real nice to assist." I giggle.
"Oh, thanks. I'm glad you say that. I was really nervous." He nervously laughs. "So, what do you have this period?"
"I have gym. I take my time, because the P.E. teacher just lets us do what we want. He makes us climb ropes, and do runs, but rarely." I shrug.
"I see. Well, have fun. It was nice talking to you." He smiles. That smile! How is he so hot?
"Yeah, nice talking to you too. By the way, what's your name?"
"Oh, of course. Sorry. My name is Shawn."
"Nice to meet you. My name's Kaylynn. Everyone calls me Kay-kay." I smile.
"Alright. I should get back in there. Catch you later, Kay-kay." He chuckles.
"See you around, Shawn." I smile, and walk to the gym.

After that class, I walk back to the Science room, and instantly lock eyes with Shawn. He smiles and I blush, looking over at my seat. Of course, Ari is talking to James, the school's bad boy. That's her type. I sit next to her, as I feel Shawn's eyes on me the whole time I'm getting ready for class.
"Kay. You know new T.A. is staring hard core at you, right?" Ari looks at me.
"I do now. Thanks." I blush even harder.
"O. M. G. You like him." She eagerly gets in my face.
"I barely know him. Besides, he's basically a teacher. Would that even be allowed?" I start thinking, looking back over to Shawn. He smiles at me again, and helps another student. Before she can answer my question, Mr. Hernandez walks in. "Shhhh. Quiet down class. Did everyone do the homework?" There's mumbles through the classroom, and Mr. Hernandez laughs. "Please, pass it forward? I'll have my new T.A. grade them." Everyone passes their homework forward to Shawn and he smiles as he takes them. This place is going to eat him up, if he keeps smiling. I laugh, as I think to myself. Ari looks at me and furrows her eyebrows. I laugh, and mouth 'what?'. She mouths 'you know what', and looks over to Shawn. "Stop." I whisper. She laughs, and looks to the front again. "Alright class. My new T.A. here, his name is Mr. Mendes." "Oh, actually, it's just Shawn..." "It's Mr. Mendes to the students." Mr. Hernandez puts a hand on on Shawn's shoulder. Shawn nods, and takes the papers to his little desk next to the teacher's desk. Shawn looks at me, and makes a expression as to say 'whoops'. I giggle.
"You both are flirting. It's gonna happen. I just know it." She whispers to me, as the teacher reviews what we read for homework. I blush really hard, and tell her to shut up. She smirks, looking at the teacher.
"Okay. Class, we are doing a project for a good chunk of your grade. It'll be groups of three students." I start writing down the notes, and everyone starts groaning. "Alright, before you do all that. We will have a group of two students left, so Mr. Mendes will pick a group he can be in. Don't get to excited though, because he will not be doing any work. He isn't being graded like all of you are, so no one can talk him into doing anything." He breathes. "He can help put stuff on a poster, or something. He just can't tell you answers for the project subject." He smiles. "Anyway, Shawn go pick a group and let's get started." He writes down the subjects we can pick from, on the board. I laugh and write down the subjects in my notebook.
"Why are you laughing?" Ari asks.
"Mr. Hernandez is funny. He explains stuff so funny." I giggle. Shawn walks up to Arianna and I, and sits down.
"Hi, Mr. Mendes. What's up?" I smile.
"Really, It's okay if you call me Shawn. Anyway, I was going to ask if I could be in your group?" He shyly, smiles.
"Why would we want you in our group? Then we will have to do all the work, Teacher's pet." Ari crosses her arms.
"Arianna!" I raise my voice a little. "Why are you being so mean to him? You don't even know him." I look at her, sternly.
"Oh like you do?" She laughs. She leans closer to me and whispers,"I'm trying to get you to play hard to get." She giggles, and looks at Shawn. "Boys love that." She whispers. "Why can't I just be myself?" I whisper back. "You can, but he probably won't fall for you." She leans away.
"What's the verdict?" Shawn chuckles. He smiles at me, and we lock eyes. I shyly smile and open my mouth to say something, but Mr. Hernandez says, "Whatever group you are in now, is the one you stay in. We have ten more minutes of class, and I still have to give you your homework." He laughs.
"Well, looks like you're stuck with us." I laugh. Shawn smiles, and nods. Arianna rolls her eyes, and I glare at her. Shawn laughs, then walks back to the front of the classroom.
"Alright, kids. Pick a subject and email me. Tonight's homework is page thirty-one in your books. It has a pretty easy experiment to do at home, and I want a two paragraph report on how it went. Including, your hypothesis, and conclusion. That's it, Dismissed." He says, as he writes everything down on the board. I write everything in my notebook, and shove it into my backpack. I walk to the front of the classroom, and wait for Mr. Hernandez' attention.
"Ah, KayLynn. What can I help you with, my dear?" He smiles.
"Oh I was just wondering, if the experiment report needed to be typed and printed, or just written?" I smile. "Also, if typed what font, and margin?"
"This is why she's my best student, Shawn. She is so dedicated to her work." He looks at Shawn, who's smiling. "Yes, well, I guess it's up to you. If you type it up please use the font-" "Times New Roman." I cut him off. "Yes, like always, you know what to do." He smiles.
"Also, is there any extra credit that I could do?" I ask.
"Why on earth would my best student need extra credit?" He asks.
"I don't know. I just like doing it I guess." I shrug.
"Okay, well. I'll tell you what, if you type up your report, and do one extra paragraph, I will give you ten points extra credit."
"Thank you. I'll get right on it." I wave, as Shawn walks me out to the hallway.
"Here." He gives me a small piece of paper. "It's my phone number. For the project, of course." He nervously laughs. I smile.
"Thanks. I'll call you tonight, so that you have my number too." I start to walk to my next class, when I feel his hand on my shoulder. I whip around with a inquizitive expression on my face.
"Sorry. I just had a quick question." He takes his hand off. "Does your friend actually not like me?" He frowns.
"Oh, Ari? No she just wants to control my love life." I glare at nothing, and then put my hand over my mouth. 'Did I just say 'love life' in front of him?'
"Oh." He grins. "I was beginning to wonder. She wasn't really nice." He chuckles. 'He just continued like I didn't even say that.'
"Yeah, she um. She says that playing hard to get, gets boys to fall for you." I nervously giggle. He chuckles, and then bends down to my ear, and whispers, "I like you, the way you are." Which sends shivers down my spine. I freeze. Unable to move, I hear the bell ring, and he steps back, smiling.
"Shawn, I...." "It's okay. I'll talk to tonight. Get to class." He slightly laughs. I still can't move. He rubs my shoulder and walks back into the science room. I finally move and run into someone. "Sorry!" I say, as they scoff at me. I roll my eyes, and continue walking to class. 'Seriously, what just happened?' I shake it off, so I can continue my day, undistracted.

A/N: This is not starting out very well, but hopefully it'll get better. Please no hate. Thank you!
