Chapter One: Magic fire (Annan)

  "ANNAN D TATTERSHALL, GET YOUR NARROW BACKSIDE DOWN HERE NOW, DO I HAVE TO DRAG YOU DOWN" said my dad's voice through the intercom, that's not the kind of wake up I wanted on this beautiful morning on the island of Tortola but that's what I get on a marine base, and even worse my dad and grandad are high ranks in the navy, my dad is a captain with magical powers (I'll explain later) and my grandad who's a vice admiral but just super strong, but it ain't so bad, my cousin, across the hall in Barrack thirteen, Oliver is suffering too, he was taken an orphan by the marines when they found him shipwrecked on an island with a note stuffed in his pocket but no one told me what it meant, but my dad was concerned, as well as some strange blue lights which were dancing around him it looked like electricity or something. So with my lovely wake up call I run to Oliver's barracks and remind him that we have cabin duty's today, which include scrubbing the barracks, deck of my dad's ship HMS Dauntless which is the pride of Tortola after we're both showered, dressed in the marine garb which includes a white shirt a blue scarf around our necks and navy blue trousers and has had some breakfast in the mess hall with the other cabin boys we begin our duties, we do it mostly in silence until Oliver whispers to me "hoy, I got us some extra snap if ya hungry" I whisper back to him "Oliver you bloody idiot we'll get caught for sure, and I ain't going back to my dad's office and sent to run twenty miles." "you get off easy Annan they make me run and get a cold shower" he replied with that stupid cocky grin of his "well if You get caught don't blame me" I whisper back.
For rest of the day we just joked around and did our duties until my dad's second in command Kieran showed up Kieran is one of the youngest Sergeant Majors in the marines at the age of sixteen and five foot tall "Annan" he said "your father wants ya in his office, he ain't to be kept waiting, not for your sake, but mine" when he said that he winked at me and walked away, Kieran was alright with me and Oliver mainly because we shared our snap with him and helped him with his reports. So after Kieran told me my dad wanted me, I went up to his office and prepared to run twenty miles. Before you meet my Dad lemme give you some info on him, he is eight foot built like a tank but a youngish face scarred by years of battles with pirates for twenty years he is forty-five so basically he looks like a teenager who learnt to harness the power of lava, took steroids and decided to go one on one with a whale,
When I entered his office I made sure to keep silent about my little mishap with the armoury, it happened about a week ago somehow I set it all on fire just because a snot nosed cabin boy decided he was hard enough to take me on, he left with broken ribs, nose and arm and some bad burns, and I left smiling but I wasn't smiling now the way my dad looked at me, "Annan" he said "I heard about the incident in the armoury with you and James" when he said that I started to feel rather woozy my dad is someone you don't want to be on the bad side of him"all in all, I'm pleased you have powers" he said "P...P...Pleased father?" I stammered "YES YOU FOOL DID I RAISE A MAN OR A MOUSE" he shouted, "now since you discovered your powers I'm going to start your training tomorrow and my second in command is going to be there and that boy you hang out with, Oliver, isn't it?" He asked "Yes father, thank you father" I replied meekly "now I have a gift for you here..." he started to say before Kieran burst in "CAPTAIN" he shouted in panic "WERE BEING INVADED" he said "Who is invading Sergeant" my father asked calmly "Rhombar Pirates, sir" he managed to say before an explosion shook the building "damn it, Kieran, take my son and his friend Oliver and explain the truth to both of them who they are and make sure they don't become like me" he ordered the last I saw of him was his entire body turning into lava and jumping out of his office window to confront the pirates.
So with that Kieran ushered me outside and grabbed Oliver, who was eavesdropping on the conversation, and took us to dock thirteen where all special boats are made "get on the last one while I unhook it from the dock." So we got on the ship which looked like a sloop and on the side it was called Crimson Kiss. We managed to get on but Kieran was having trouble getting the lines off "IT'S STUCK" he bellowed "OLIVER HELP ME UNHOOK IT" so Oliver went down and with a spare piece of metal he found on the floor he sliced the rope and got back on, as Kieran was getting on the deck, the door to dock thirteen shattered open and in streamed a wave of pirates, brigands, swordsmen and other scum. In the midst of them a man stepped forward with a scarred face and bald as a baby's backside "my name is Captain Edward Rhombar, you are going to become my prisoners if you wish to live, if not your man here will die" he pointed to Kieran and at least thirty muskets pointed to him but Kieran just stood calmly and spread his hands, but in his hand's place were swords as sharp as an eagles eyesight and smiled coldly at Captain Rhombar and said "you want them, best make sure your first shot kills me" after he said that, he jumped and landed into the swarm of pirates and massacred every one of them, he was like a viper striking not long since he struck his first enemy he was killing a second and so on until only Captain Rhombar was left "now you thinking you had upper hand because I'm a skin-changer thought I won't be able to kill you without changing shape, but your dead wrong" and with that he sliced at Rhombar, but where he had been he was behind Kieran and stabbed him with a sword the size of a car and as sharp as daylight and whispered in his ear "Large Marge gives her regards" and with that Rhombar slid his sword out of Kieran slowly and left him on the dock, at this time, Oliver was burning with rage and said to me "I got Kieran you get Rhombar use your anger and think of flames and attack him" and with that Oliver jumped over board and was engulfed by blue lightning and landed next to Kieran and started to bandage him with the speed of a cheetah but I had bigger problems with Rhombar, he was approaching me with immense calm and speed so I did what any normal 16 year old did in these situations after witnessing a stabbing; I attacked him, and Oliver's advice (for once) worked, it seemed like flames were engulfing me and dancing around me and I think I was winning until Rhombar grabbed my fist and said with blood slipping out of his mouth "a fire user ey, well the boss just said take the lighting user, but I guess you could be her pet" and he suddenly turned into a massive snake and coiled around me, squeezing the life out of me, until out of nowhere a giant blast of blue lightning hit Rhombar in the head, releasing his grip of me and knocking him unconscious in the water. When I looked around to see what happened I saw Oliver there with his Half arsed cocky grin on his face holding Kieran up and laying him on the deck of Crimson Kiss, "that was fun" he said laughing hysterically so I just whacked him on the head and went to sleep from exhaustion while Kieran and Oliver got the ship underway my last memories before I lost consciousness was Oliver singing 'Drunken Sailor'
