prologue

I'm was always surrounded by people. It's not a bad thing of course, but deep down inside I feel alone. I'm not sure if that makes sense, but that's just how I feel.

I feel like there was nothing to hold onto, like there is nothing making me cling onto life.

I guess there's music, but it feels like something is missing. Something important.

"Alright, Nami! You're up," Kaede says smiling down at me before walking past. I quickly adjust my guitar before walking up the steps of the stage. When I walk on I quickly make my way to the stool in the middle and hear cheers for me.

"Hello," I smile adjusting the microphone and the crowd yells again. When I finish I get comfortable on the stool before pushing my hair from my face.

"Nami," I hear a chorus of people yell in the back. Naruto, Sakura, and my younger siblings quickly wave to me. I quickly smile to them before moving my attention.

"I'm going to be singing another original this year. It's called Something Better, I hope you like it," I smile before strumming my guitar.

"Thank you," I smile before bowing and leaving the stage.

"You were amazing, Nami," Itaru, another performer says before running on stage with his group.

I lift my guitar off of my body and place it in its case before lifting it off the floor. This year is my last year of performing at the art festival after nine years of doing it.

"Nami, someone brought this for you," Kaede says holding a red rose in her hand.

"Thank you," I say taking the rose into my hands. "Did you see who it was...?"

"Sorry, sweetie," she shakes her head with a frown before holding out a paper. "It came with this letter though."

"Okay. Thank you," I smile taking the paper before she walks off. Once I see she's gone, I look down at the paper to see my name beautifully written. I unfold the paper to see a small message on it.

Soon - s.r.s.

"Soon," I mutter before closing the small paper. My eyes move to the red rose and I smile.

"Hey, Nami! Ya coming," Naruto yells as he and Sakura wave to me with my twin siblings.

"Yeah," I laugh lifting my bag and walking to them.

"You were awesome, Mimi," Banri says as he and Emiri hug me quickly.

"Yeah, you were the best," Emiri smiles batting her lashes at me then her eyes move to the rose in my hand. "Look! That flower matches your bow!"

"You're right, Em," I smile as Naruto takes my guitar and holds it for me. "Now, let's go get some Ramen?"

"Yeah," Naruto and the twins yell in excitement before they run off leaving me and Sakura behind.

"Did you find out who he is," Sakura asks looking at the red rose in my hand.

"No, but I'm sure I'll meet him one day. Maybe soon."
