Today's topic is about giving up. Are you the kind of person that gives up when the going gets tough or the one who keeps trying to find a way eventhough it's seemingly hopeless? I myself, hate walking away from something. I don't ever want to say that I walked away or that I couldn't handle it. It's like being on a team, when things get rough you can't quit, you have a whole team that's depending on you. Are you going to let them down? They put faith in you that you are going to be there for them. In life we have two routes an easy one, and a hard one. I will always choose hard because there will be harder challenges that will have to face later on.
The other day I went against the current of everyone. I stood up for what was right. I'm in this national award winning program that puts on historical skits and productions. Everyone came up with excuses and "reasons" why they don't want to. One of them was that they were so busy because the production was our final for the year and they complained how much work they had to do.
I understand you have work to do, I do too. I have to memorize 3 pages and recite it for one of my finals. I also, understand that colleges look at your sophomore and junior year, but they look for diversity, even if if you have at 4.2 GPA. There will be at least 1,000 other students with a higher GPA. So what makes you they will pick you?
The worse part was that they didn't even want to try. It never hurts to try. Things got so bad that our T.A. walked out. Out of our entire class only 3 people wanted to do it, including me. They gave up before they even started. That was the hardest part, didn't even give it a shot. I tried so hard to keep it on. Like come on, it's our teacher's last year of doing this program. We are the last class that has an opportunity to do something like this and you want to give up because "it's too hard." One guys said, "It's just a high school play." So if "it's just a high school play" then it should be easy. Am I wrong? There are way worse things in life than "just a high school play." Our teacher said that "If you want to run away from your problems go ahead. I'm not going to stop you. Just that runners will keep running from their problems, just next time they run faster."
It's hard to be the who stands for what's right, that's what you never really understand until you experience it first hand.
