Max woke to the early light filtering through his widow. Laying in his bed comfortably and not wanting to get up, enjoying the warmth of the morning sun hitting his leg through the curtains.
He must've woken up early, because several minutes passed before the alarm clock finally went off.
Max sat up slowly and turned off the clock, more gently then the morning before. He began to remember what had happened yesterday, with the boy Oscar, he was spoused to meet today after work. Rubbing his eyes and stretching his back, he walked down the stairs, almost tripping down the last few. He heard a voice from the kitchen,
"Max?" It was, one, of his moms,(one of them he calls mom and the other momma)
"Oh- good morning Momma.." He walked into the kitchen and his momma kissed his cheek, his parents seemed to be extra affectionate and even spoiled him sometimes, even though he was an adult now. He figured it was because he was adopted and the only child.
"Good morning, honey. Do you have work today?"
"Yeah. I have to go soon.." he realized he didn't get dressed yet, before he came downstairs like he usually does.
"Uh... I'll be right back." He ran upstairs and heard his Momma say as he ran, sounding slightly confused,
"Um... ok." Max ran to his room and quickly threw on some clean clothes. He ran back down, feeling more excited about meeting Oscar.
"What do you want for breakfast?" Momma said to him as he reached to button of the stairs. He thought for a second,
"Toast." Like always. Momma took out the toaster and Max got the bread and jelly out of the fridge. It popped out after a minute and he spread the sticky, spread over the crispy bread.
"Where's mom?" He said out of the blue,
"She went to work already, but I don't have work today," She looked at Max, smiling, "We could go somewhere, when you get back from work." Max beamed,
"I can't. I got a date." He put his hands on his waist, smiling and feeling happy.
Momma raised her eyebrows,
"Really? With who?"
"With a boy named Oscar," His parents knew he was gay,(and to be honest, it was pretty obvious.) "I meant him yesterday at work and he gave me his number." Max felt like a happy kid again. He took a bite of toast.
"That- that's great!" Momma said, she seemed like she didn't quite know what to say. Max finished up his breakfast. Feeling awkward all of a sudden, he put on a sweatshirt, getting ready to go.
"Well.. I gotta go.. um.. to work now, I'll be back around nine."
"Ok..." confused about how Momma was acting he went outside, got in his car and drove to work.Work went by slowly. But finally, at 3:00 pm, he could leave. Max went outside and waited for Oscar to arrive. After 15 minutes or so he could see Oscar walking up the sidewalk. Max smiled and blushed deeply,
"Hope you weren't waiting to long." Oscar said as he reached Max.
"Not to long." Max said in reply,
"So where do you wanna go?" Oscar said in a friendly voice,
"Movies maybe?"
"Sure, what if we see 'IT'?" Maxxhated horror movies, but didn't want to show it,
"Uh.. sure..." he felt nervous, and honestly didn't want to see it at all. But after talking a bit more they started walking to the theaters. As they walked in, Max saw the picture of 'IT' on the wall, it was terrifying.
Maybe we shouldn't see this movie... he thought, but decided not to say anything. They got a big tub of popcorn and went in. After a few adds it started. At first Max was fine, but the there was a jump scare and he screamed, feeling kinda sick. Without realizing it he was grabbing on to Oscar's arm, he was terrified. Oscar was surprised but didn't seem to mind Max on his arm, he even liked it.Max screamed a couple more times before the movie was over, he held on to Oscars arm the whole time and refused to let go as the walked to the coffee shop to get Max's car. When they got there Oscar stoped him from getting in the car and grabbed his hand.
"Sorry if I scared you with that movie..."
"It- it's ok..." Max looked down at their hands,
"Max..."
"Yeah?"
"Can I tell you something...?"
"Sure..." Oscar took a deep breath,
"I- I... really like you Max..."
"You- you do...?"
"Yeah..." Oscar smiled hopefully at him, having to looks down,
"I- I- I...." Max didn't know what to say, so instead he grabbed the front of Oscar's shirt, stood on his toes and kissed him on the lips. The boys broke apart after a few seconds and stared at each other, until Oscar pulled him into another kiss, that lasted longer this time. After a long silence, Max said,
"It's getting late... I should probably go..."
"Already...?" Oscar sounded disappointed,
"Yes... I told my mother, I'd be back a nine.. it's almost ten..." Oscar thought for a second,
"Ok... see ya tomorrow?" Oscar smiled at him as Max got into his car,
"Yeah." Max smiled back, then drove off, with Oscar waving.
