Standing in the dark, Lit only by candle light.
I look in the mirror, eyes full of fright.
I see one glistening tear, and the words you said are in my ear.
"You're beautiful, You're perfect! The girl I adore,
The only one I would fight for.
You're smart you're sweet,
No girl could ever compete."
I hear the words and they bring comfort..
But what I'm about to tell you, is going to hurt.
I'm not perfect. Not even half-way.
But I've tried to be, and to this very day,
The truth in me, gets in the way.
I am Imperfection.
I'm stubborn and cocky.
Loud and crude.
I can be very, very rude.
I'm angry and defiant.
I can turn into a tyrant.
These are the things I see..
When I look in the mirror.
I see all my flaws for what they are;
Problems, Annoyances for you,
But if you've forgotten, you have them too..
I work on mine as hard as I can,
An I ask the same, from a soon-to-be-man.
I know you're only as perfect as I am,
Which isn't a lot,
It's not something you're born with, And you can never be taught,
This is no reason, to become distraught.
I love you for you, Just who you are,
Learn to do the same, From imperfection: I am not far.
When I look in the mirror, I truly am pleased,
Imperfection, is nothing to be teased.
Love me for who I am, While I try to grow better,
Then we'll look back, at my poems and love letter.
Looking in the mirror, in the middle of the night,
Looking with nothing but faint candle light,
I see my flaws, I see my perfection,
I see my tears, over painful rejection.
While I work on me slowly, There's a lot to work on
I will never be perfect, not until I am gone.
Until the day i die, When I look in that mirror,
I will always be,
A beautiful imperfection that you hold quite dear.
