I still have so much

left to say to you

{AFTER 01}

Two hours after

      "I'm sorry."

      I'm sorry.

Who knew two little words could ruin your life?

Who knew two little words could totally wreck and destroy a family? Leaving a mother and father, collapsed into each others arms, sobbing in pure agony? Leaving a brother shaking his head in denial, ripping at his hair and crying to the Gods?

"Why? Why? Oh, oh God why?"

      Who fucking knew?

I know I didn't. So I just stood there and watched. It was like I was watching a movie, like I wasn't even there. But I was.

"Heath?" Jeremy shook gently at my shoulders, snapping me out of my daze. My eyes locked with his before he quickly looked away, and I could tell he was gnawing on the inside of his cheek. "Man... Heath..." He trailed off. He didn't know what to say. I can't really say I'd blame him.

If his girlfriend was dead, I wouldn't really know what to say either.

Hayden's older brother, Matt, stood up from his chair, quickly pushing it out from under him. "Where's the mother fucker who did this?" He screamed, rage evident in his voice, causing his mother to flinch in her husbands arms.

      What else would you expect?

The young doctor looked alarmed. Taking a small step back, he stammered, "Sir, I do not know those details about the accident. I'm sure the police will have all the information you will need."

"Accident?" He cried, tears streaming down his face. "This was no accident!" It was then when Matt turned and started to punch the wall behind him. Repeatedly. His mom screamed, begging him to stop, but he wouldn't.

      That's when I ran out.

I turned away from the screams that tore out of her mother's throat, and the blood that had started to pool out of Matt's knuckles and splatter onto the bright white walls. I had seen enough blood and heard enough agonizing screams for a life time.

      Blood.

      Her blood.

I stopped dead in my tracks and froze. Then I could feel it. I could feel it sticking to my skin.

There was no denying that it was there. Her blood had soaked into my white cotton T shirt, seeping through to my skin.

I was covered in Hayden's blood.
