The feeling was exhilarating. Electra had sprinted through fields, through town, and she was now nearing the cliffs. Her legs were burning, but nothing could compare to the feeling. The adrenaline pumping through her veins dulled her aching limbs. Every time she caught sight of the cliffs, she was reminded of a time back when she was twelve. She had been out on the cliffs with her friends- Marlon, Jesse, Ollie, and Brandon. She had been well capable of leaping from the height and into the water, unlike Brandon. She had been in the sea at the time, waiting for him to jump. He impacted on the rocks with a sickening crunch, shattering every bone in his legs. The thought of him wheeling himself around in his chair didn't perturb her, it made the risk so much more thrilling.
Electra kicked off of the edge, hurling herself through the air. Her heart was flying, the sense of elation overriding any other thought she may have had. The ocean enveloped her in a chilly hug. Three more bodies joined her in the water, cackling with glee before they swam back to the cove.

The cove held many fond memories of Electra's; bright summer days with her tight-knit circle of friends, days spent collecting muscles with her father, her first kiss. The list went on.
"Hey! Jesse!" Ollie called, wringing out his drenched shirt, putting his scrawny torso on display.
"Yeah?" Jesse replied as she pulled her hair out of the bun it'd been tied in.
"Race ya to the top!" Ollie hollered before shooting up the rocky incline. Jesse scrambled up behind him, quickly slipping past. She sat triumphantly at the peak, on a small patch of grass. Ollie shook his head in defeat. Electra never quite grasped why he challenged Jesse to matches of physical prowess, when he was hopelessly outmatched. She failed to hold back her laughter as Ollie tripped on his way back down, receiving a mouthful of sand.

The setting sun bled shades of amber, orange, vermilion, and coral into the sky, the seagulls nothing but black shapes moving across a painted canvas. The ocean became ink, ready to replenish a quill. As a veil of darkness was slowly drawn across the sky, the four were far from prepared to call it a day.
"Wanna play a game?" Ollie asked, sitting up suddenly.
"What game?" Electra responded, her eyes darting to his slender figure which was a watercolour of navy and black, illuminated by a layer of frost.
"Hide and seek." Ollie giggled, with a playful glint in his dark chocolate eyes, that was still noticeable even when shrouded in darkness. Marlon sighed, too mature for childish games at the ripe old age of nineteen, but joined in for the sake of the group.
Electra began as the seeker, waiting a meagre thirty seconds before searching for the others. Marlon was the first to be found, sitting lazily behind a rock. He hadn't even bothered to find a good place to hide. Jesse had climbed up the incline and was hanging from the side, pressing her body flat against the rocks. She was found next. Of course, Ollie would be the last to be found. After fifteen minutes of searching for him with no results, concern made an appearance in Electra's usually calm mind. Marlon and Jesse caught on quickly, assisting in the hunt. Another ten minutes went by. Still there was no sign of Ollie.

"Ollie?" Electra yelled. "You can come out now. It's not fun anymore."
The rushing of the waves bit into the silence.
"Ollie!" Marlon bellowed, his deep, husky voice echoing through the cove. Jesse manoeuvred across the jagged rocks which she tended to avoid, peering between the sharp mounds of darkness.
Electra gazed out across the water, watching how the ripples caught the moonlight, and how they appeared to glitter. It was a view that could only distract her for a matter of seconds though.
"There's an opening over here!" Jesse shouted back to Electra and Marlon.
"Do you think he went in there?" Marlon barked.
"It look's like he might've been able to squeeze in..." Jesse trailed off.
The three of them strained to see through the small space.
"There's no point just standing her. Someone's gonna have to go in after him." Marlon said sternly. His face was dripping with darkness, void of any light. This made his penetrating glare even more intimidating.

Jesse slid through the gap like a draft escaping underneath a door. Electra was quick to follow, having to put a bit more effort into it, but she still managed.
"I don't think I'll fit." Marlon said bluntly. It was clear that his sculpted chest, wide shoulders, and tall stature were no match for the slight crevice in the rock.
"Just wait there until we find him." Electra said. She turned and stopped in amazement at the vast cavern that opened up around her. The sliver of moonlight that crept through the crack made the water on the walls glimmer. Scatterings of gemstones shone under the glow, and extended into a black abyss the sat in front of the two.
"Ollie!" Electra's voice bounced off the walls and travelled down into the darkness, but there was no sight of her friend.
Jesse's foot came into contact with a small, hard object that was sent skittering across the cavern floor. She reached blindly into the shadows until her hand closed around it.
"It's a... torch." She said slowly.
"Does it work?" Electra asked with excitement. Jesse pressed the button but no light appeared. With her brows furrowed, she opened up the battery compartment to have a look. The batteries were fused to the inside, rusted and corroded almost beyond recognition. Upon closer inspection, they discovered that the glass that shielded the bulb was cracked. Electra shrugged, not knowing what she'd really expected.
"Something about this gives me a bad feeling." Jesse murmured.
Marlon's voice reverberated through the cave.
"He's here!"
The girls turned and made their way back towards the opening, busy thinking of all the ways they could murder Ollie for what he'd just put them through.
As they climbed back through the gap, it was watching, waiting. They had already seen too much.
