I am Raven Alex Bromson. We all know that there are the ridiculous stories about ghosts and spirits and crap. Well, I am writing my senior research paper to prove how bogus these stories are. I hate the idea of leaving home, but I need to go to some "real" haunts. Of course getting to some of those so called haunts means traveling to Charleston, South Carolina. It was not a pleasant road trip going from Arkansas to South Carolina. I will be continuing to update my paper as the days go on. I do not look forward to wasting my time here.

Well, it's my first night in Charleston. I am staying at the Joe E. Berry Residence Hall, it is part of the College of Charleston. It almost seems stupid staying here but this is formerly the location of the Charleston Orphan House which was demolished in 1953. The orphanage peaked at three hundred and thirty-four children shortly after the Civil War. In 1918, during the epidemic of the Spanish influenza, the infirmary was packed full, and as you can imagine the sick children needed attention. That left those who weren't infected unattended. As children are known to do, they caused trouble. They started out being innocent, creating tents out of cardboard they found in the trash. After a while they got bored and lit the tents on fire, causing an evac of the orphanage. Four orphans died of smoke inhalation. They were between the ages of eight and thirteen.

They say the dorms here have been plagued by a rash of false fire alarms, laughter and voices of children and weird sounds traveling through the halls, vents, stairwells, etc. it is always between the hours of 2:30 and 5 am. A lot of people say they are woken up by the sound of marbles rolling down the halls, yet when they look there is never anything there. Some say they hear a high pitched chant of "Ring Around The Rosie" which seems a little ridiculous.

It is 3:30 am and I was just woken up by the sounds of laughter and voices. They do sound like young children, but I am not going to just jump to the conclusion of ghosts and spirits. I'm going to give the halls a quick lap and come back to report my findings.

It is now 4:25 am. When I went and wandered the halls I kept hearing giggles from down the stairwell, but it sounded very strong for that of a so called ghost. So naturally I went to investigate it. When I walked down the steps I heard major movement from below me and as I got to the lower level I watched some boys run into their dorm room, thinking that I didn't see them. I pounded on the door and made them admit to trying to hoax me. There is one of my destinations down, with an attempted hoax. That just shows me how fake this really is.
