Alex's POV
"Alex, wake up." My pal Sketch shook me gently.
"I'm awake." I say, yawning.
"You've been sleeping for three hours." He said as I sat up. Three hour nap? Sweet. I've been needing that. I try to crack my back, but fail, and just stand up. I pull on a black tank top, a denim (jean) jacket, and some baggy jeans. I skip gelling up my hair and go right to shaving. Denis, my right hand man, comes into the bathroom next to me and begins brushing his teeth.
"Mornin man. What's the plan for today?" He says, spitting a glob of blue toothpaste into the drain.
"Same as always." I say, wiping the leftover shaving cream off of my face.
"Man, we do the same borin old thing everyday, let's do something fun. Gang fight!" Corl pops in. Hey, that actually sounds really cool. I've been dying to fight the one gang that has done me the most wrong. Yup, two years later, I still believe Lili is alive. No matter what, I just can't shake that feeling. The feeling that she's really out there, still in this dumpy old town. She's my sister, I know her. She wouldn't go down without a fight, even if it meant she would have to kill.
"A'ight, well, what gang do we wanna rumble with." Sketch asks. Without thinking, I blurt out the name:
"The Cruisers!"
"Alex, are you sure? Is this because of-" Dingo starts, but I cut him off.
"Yes, I need to get Lili back." I say, heavy-set on beating that gang down and saving my sis.
"Lickman, face it. She's probably long gone." Sketch says, laying a hand on my shoulder.
"Yeah, and plus, I've seen em around. There is no little girl among them, anywhere."Corl explains.
"You guys, come ON. You try and think of something that that gang has done to you that you know you wanna get back at them for! They killed my only family and took the last of it! You think I'm just gonna stand by until they get me too? HECK NO!" I almost shout. This riles them up and we all grab our guns. We go and hunt down a member of the Cruisers and request that they tell their leader to meet us in the street at 12 midnight, sharp. He smirks and tells us to watch our backs. Sketch secretly flips him the bird as we run back home to prepare.*time skip to midnight at the street*
Alex's POV
"A'ight, here's the rules. Guns and fists are allowed, and this gang fight is going to be a bit different. We all split up and run through the alleys, and if we find one another, we fight to wound, and if you want to, kill. Got it?" The leader of the Cruisers. Ha, now we're talkin.
"Is this some sorta sick hide and seek game?" Denis asks, glaring.
"You could call it that." The leader grins.
"So how do we know who's who?" I ask.
"If it's one of your own, they have to say your name."
"Alright fine. Let's go, riiiight........NOW!" I say and we all dash into random alleyways. I pull out my gun and get ready for any sort of movement. Somebody comes out from behind a trash can and he says my name so I know it's one of my friends.
"You find anybody yet?" I ask walking up to him. I recognize it at as Sketch.
"Nah, just you."
"A'ight take care, don't need you living the rest of your life in the cemetery."
"Right back at ya." We pass each other and continue on our way. Another one pops out from a large crate, and wants only to fist fight. So I slip my gun in my holster and put up my fists. He gives me a large bruise on the cheek, but I knock him out anyways. I lift him back into the crate he came out of and went into the street. I hear a scream and then Denis runs up to me.
"Alex."
"Don't gotta say my name, already know it's you." He rolls his eyes.
"No I mean Alex as in I gotta tell you somethin so shut your trap."
"Why was there screaming?"
"Kicked a guy in the balls."
"Ah."
"Anyways, have you noticed something odd?"
"Like what? Lili?! You found her?!"
"What? No. I mean, the other gang. They only want to fist fight, not shoot us or stab us."
"Oh, yeah. That does seem a bit weird. Especially since they are the most lethal gang in this town."
"Make sure you watch your back, alright? Can't lose our leader."
"I know, good luck."
"Thanks, you too." He walks off to an alley nearest the one I'm standing in front of, and I head the opposite way, only to see a flash of denim rush into the shadows. I immediately pull out my gun and rush after it. I stand almost halfway into the alleyway and all of a sudden, a smaller, skinnier form jumps out in front of me, and I hear a gun click. I aim for the head, but then the person lowers their gun. They step forward just a bit and I can see....my denim jacket.....
"Alex!" I hear Denis shout, and then a hand with a gun flies into the back of her head, and she falls to the ground unconscious.
"Denis! What the heck?!"
"Alex! He was trying to kill you!"
"He? Try again dude."
"Wait.....oh god, Alex. I-I didn't realize. I'm sorry."
"Let's book it. Grab her." Then we hear a gunshot and a male scream. Sketch rushes out into the street towards us, Corl limping beside him, bleeding from the left leg.
"Sketch, Corl! Let's go!" I shout, and run down the sidewalk. Denis follows, carrying her in his arms. A bullet whizzes by my head, nearly missing me. I push the others in front of me as best I can and back into the brick wall closest to me. I load my gun and aim for the weakest points on the Cruiser members. I get one guy in the hip, another in the shoulder, and a third in the leg. There's more but I really need to get out of here, so while they are down, I bolt.
