The ceremony didn't start until the moon was high above and shining down on all the Potentials. Each group sat on mats in front of their Caretakers. The temple was eerily quiet, no one dared make a sound as the Caretakers prayed at the altar.
Whisper sat in the midst of the Darkness Potentials holding her breath, too scared to even blink. She watched the back of her Caretaker's head, holding her bracelet close to her heart. Night was his name. He was old, but in dragon years he was barely even a fledgling.
Whisper watched, waiting with baited breath, and nearly jumped out of her skin when Night's purple eyes stared right at her. Him along with the other Caretakers opened their mouths and spoke together. "The elements have chosen." Behind them, the altar began to glow and six stones were laid out in front of them. Runes etched themselves into the stones, each glowing a different color.
Everyone looked down at their bracelets. Whisper was hesitant. She took three deep breaths and slowly opened her clasped hands. A gasp came from her as she stared at her bracelet. A faint purple light emitted from her rune.
The Light Caretaker stood from where she sat previously. "Hikari." She called. One of the Potentials stood up. They were a male, tall, blonde hair and gold skin.
"Sora." Whisper's attention was drawn to the Air Potential as they stood up. He was also a male, wings, silver hair and pale skin.
"Ignis." A female, fire faerie, fiery red hair and orange skin.
"Faron." A male, dryad, leaves for hair and bark for skin.
"Tsunami." Female, water nymph, dark blue hair and a light blue for skin.
Whisper's gaze landed back on Night. Her heart pounded against her ribcage. Time seemed to slow down as the Caretaker stood up. "Whisper."
