Sam was always the girl who had her guard up, especially around guys. Through her childhood she was denied by her own parents and was always the second choice when it came to drugs. She begged for their attention. They hurt her beyond her means. Her mother would tell her she would be there to pick her up at five pm and wouldn't hear from her for another week after she never showed up. Sam never let her pain show even though she was dying inside. Although her father was no longer on drugs, he became a horrible alcoholic. He would buy beer and liquor before he would buy groceries and even Christmas presents. She was always the black sheep, never loved and always off to the side at family and friend gatherings. There isn't enough time to put her childhood into words all at once, so as this story goes on, her childhood will come into place
