Chapter 16 : a festival and birthday(Christmas special)

[Nagisa POV]
I fluttered my eyes opened to see I Ritsu's mirror in my hands. I looked around to see what I was laying on and where I was. Apparently I was sitting on a bench and leaning against a wall. What was strange was that Karma wasn't around and Rio and Kayano were watching me. Karma probably asked them to. "Hey Nagisa! Glad you're awake. But hurry up and help us get ready!" Rio said. I was extremely confused by what she meant by getting ready. Sooooooo..... I just gave a simple "What?" In response. Rio And Kayano  gave me a dead pan look. And muttered something like, "how could you not know..." or "You're like the closest person to him... And he is like, turning 16 or 15..." I still have no idea what was going on so I tilted my head slightly. I thought for a few seconds before... "WAIT! ISN'T IT HIS BIRTHDAY IN A FEW DAYS?! *GASP!* I DIDN'T GET HIM ANYTHING YET! WE HAVE TO GET SOMETHING FOR HIM!!" I said panickly while grabbing the two girls wrists and dragging them away to the market.

We looked at a few things in the busy market. There were clothes, jewelry, even weapons. But none of them were good enough for my Karma. Although Kayano got a really nice knife for Karma, and Rio got him some pretty cool armour. Yet I didn't have anything. Being frustrated, I sat down on a near by bench and sighed. Rio and Kayano plopped down next to me and attempted to comfort me. "Can you guys help me? I still don't know what to get Karma! And I can't find anything that is just.... you know... perfect for him!" I pleaded as Rio patted my back. "You know, since you're the closest to him, and you don't know what to get him... you should get something that only you can give to him. Make it something special~" (A/C: btw there is no lemon. Nagisa is not giving Karma Her body.) Rio said. I smiled at Rio sweetly as I started to think of an idea.

But suddenly we noticed people putting decorations up and children were danceing. I was extremely curious on what's going on so I decided to go ask one of the villagers. "Umm... excuse me? I'm a traveler here with my friends. Can you tell me what you guys are doing?" I asked one of the ladies. They looked at me with smiles as they explained it to me. (A/C:Its not Christmas)  supposedly, it's a festival where they believe that a mythical creature called the Hogo-go Yuki (protector of snow) which is half dragon and half wolf protects this small village. And is fed sugary sweets that are to be left at the highest alter. And in return, children are supposed to get one of the feathers from its wing which is the softest thing in the world. There is also another part to the story too. Apparently the story is that the Hogo-go Yuki defends the village from the fujo no majo (Winter Witch) and if there is light snow or a flurrie it means that the Hogo-go Yuki had managed to keep peace for the village. And if there is deep snow or a blizzard, it means it's fighting off the witch very hard. And what's cool is that the festival is on Karma's birthday.

That's when I got an idea! I'll write a song for him! And have Rio,Kayano, and Okuda help me with instrumentals! On the day of the festival I'll go to the center of the village and have Karma come here as a surprise. And Isogai and Maehara can distract him. I thanked the villagers and told the plan to Rio and Kayano  then had them tell the plan to Maehara, Isogai, and Okuda. LET'S GO!!

[KARMA POV](earlier that day too)

When I walked back into the room, I was shocked to see Nagisa, or Rio and Kayano. I panicked and went to my stuff to get my knife until I saw a note attached to the wall. I was worried it was a ransom note, but it turned out to be a normal note thankfully.

Dear Karma,

Don't worry, Nagisa, Kayano, and I went out to the market shopping. We will be back shortly so don't kill anyone without me.
