7 - A Mysterious Man

Jungkook's POV

"Where do you want to have lunch at?" I asked while slowing down my car when the traffic lights turned red.

"Fast food! I'm starving." She tapped her tummy a few times as an emphasis, making me laugh.

"Fast food it is then." I replied, still smiling, and listened to her ramble on with the importance of food in our lives.

Watching her, I thought about the words she had told me in the parking lot. How could she think that she wasn't good enough for me? She was so real to herself, and was never afraid to express herself.

Maybe that was why Jimin was so protective over her.

Like what he had said, Areum was too precious.

All of a sudden, I felt an unusual aura around us and my wolf instincts were going berserk in my body. Almost immediately, I directed my focus towards a man dressed in black from head to toe who was standing at the side of the crossroad, watching us from where he was.

"Oi! Are you listening me talk or not?" Areum broke my trance, and I turned my attention towards her. She was frowning.

"Huh?"

"What were you looking at?" Areum questioned while pointing at the traffic lights that was already green in colour.

Changing my gear, I stepped on the accelerator and glanced at the spot where the mysterious man was standing at, but he was no longer there.

"I thought I saw somebody I knew, but he was just a stranger." I lied with a smile, and thankfully, Areum bought it and simply dismissed the topic by talking about what to order later.

At the fast food restaurant, I got myself two large sets of burger - which shocked the daylight out of Areum by the way - and paid for our meals before heading towards an empty table at the dining area.

"Is your stomach a blackhole?" Areum teased while sitting down at the seat opposite me, allowing me to devour both my food and her beauty.

"Yeah. It's a secret. Don't tell anyone." I stuck out my tongue at her, making her roll her eyes while shaking her head. "You look cute with my glasses."

"I look cute with or without your glasses, Jungkook." Areum retorted before taking a big bite from her burger. I gulped when I saw mayonnaise stain at the side of her pink lips.

Pointing at the dirty spot, I awkwardly spoke. "Um, you have mayonnaise here."

"Oh." Areum took a tissue and quickly wiped it off after hearing my words. "Thank you."

I smiled. "No proble-"

I stopped talking when my wolf instincts sent more alarming signals suddenly, again. Sniffing the air subtlely, I glanced towards the entrance of the fast food restaurant and almost jumped from my seat when I saw the mysterious man in black standing there.

"Why? What's the problem?" Areum asked while turning her head towards the direction of where I was looking at, and gasped when she saw what I was seeing. Crouching down a little, she whispered. "Why is that man looking at us like a creep?"

"I've no idea, just ignore him." I smiled assuringly, hoping it would calm Areum down. "Areum-ah, quickly finish your food and I'll send you home."

"Okay." She nodded obediently before gobbling down the rest of her food.

After ensuring that she was safely home (on a side note I got to know where she was living at), I sped towards the pack house while calling all the hyungs to gather in the house. Upon reaching, I parked my car and dashed inside the house into the spacious living room where the hyungs were already waiting for me.

"Kookie! What's wrong?" Taehyung questioned with a worried look.

"Yeah, what's so urgent?" Jimin asked, his bangs swept messily upwards, a sign that he was in distress too.

"Did something happen?" Hoseok piped in.

"Guys, let Kookie talk." I nodded my head as a thank you towards Namjoon.

I took a deep breath before speaking. "So I was with Areum just now, and I saw a mysterious man that gave me an uncanny vibe, dressed in black, following and staring at us, twice. Once at the crossroad and another at the restaurant we were in."

"What?" They exclaimed in unison.

"I think he's our enemy. Probably a rogue." I explained while massaging my temples, annoyed by the fact that Areum was already exposed to danger.

"What should we do then?" Seokjin asked.

"I say we protect Areum-ssi at all cost." Taehyung said.

"That's a given, duh. What I meant was, how are we supposed to protect her? Kookie, your call." Seokjin gestured towards me, and I cleared my throat while thinking.

"We separate into two groups. A group will protect Areum by ensuring that no one is secretly following her while the other group will find out about who that mysterious guy was." They all nodded in agreement. "Jimin hyung, Taehyung hyung and Hoseok hyung, you three will be in charged of ensuring Areum's safety. The rest of us will find out what's happening."

"Okay, but won't she feel weird for them to be around her all the time though?" Yoongi questioned, and Jimin shook his head.

"Nah, she'd be too clueless to realize that we are actually protecting her." Jimin grinned.

"We need to be closer to her though. Jimin is alright, but for us.." Hoseok pointed at both him and Taehyung while dragging his sentence.

"I suggest we invite her to the pack house!" Taehyung suggested, startling me.

"What? No-" I got cut off when Seokjin started to jump around excitedly.

"Oh my gosh, I can finally cook and share my delicious food to a girl! And not six constantly hungry boys!"

"We can show her our backyard too!" Namjoon chirped.

"What's so great about the backyard?" Yoongi fired back, making the former roll his eyes.

"Only you, Yoongi hyung, doesn't appreciate the beauty of our backyard that's spanned with a huge verdant green lawn, along with the forest lining along the lake-"

"Okay, I get it. Stop."

"So, Kookie, can we invite her here please?" I nearly choked when I averted my eyes towards Taehyung and Hoseok, only to see them giving me the puppy look.

"I-" I turned towards Jimin, asking for help, and sighed when he shrugged. "Fine."

The house then turned into a chaotic mess.
