Chapter 1...

Tic-toc Tic-toc "So as I was saying class, bacteria is very interesting and there is so much-,"

DING! DING! DING!

"Alright class, it seems that's all for today. Have a wonderful summer! It was nice having you all as students," Mrs. Carter erases the board.

"ERIN!!!!" My best friend Brooke yells from across the room.

"What's wrong?" I ask with a faint smile knowing it's probably just something obvious like 'Summer is here!'

"Summer is here!" wow, I guessed that one.

"So, what do you have planned?" I ask her as we walk out of science, my last period of the day.

"Nothing much, maybe going camping but it's not like going on a cruise to Hawaii! It's so not fair you get to go, I wish I could come." Brooke nudges me with her shoulder.

"Well it's only for 2 weeks. When I get back we can do stuff that's way better," I say trying to cheer her up.

"Like anything's better than going to Hawaii on a cruise. So, when do you leave?" Robin asks probably hoping that I say never.

"Well we had to pick the nearest date, otherwise we would have to wait another couple of months for the next cruise so...tomorrow,"

"What! I thought we could at least do something before you left," Brooke screams so loud that everyone in the hallway hears and looks at us. I quickly pull my binder in front of my face as I open my locker.

Brooke has always been my best friend ever since 1st grade. I had cookies and she had goldfish. When we traded we became besties for life. Now we're in 10th grade at age 16. It's amazing how time can fly by so fast.

"I know you're upset, just please don't draw everyone's attention, the last thing I need is for Nathan to think I'm weird," I turn to get a glimpse of Nathan, my future husband and father of my children, who's staring directly at me. "Look! Now you've got him watching me!" I imagine myself curling up into a ball in the deepest unknown hole possible.

"Sorry, and Nathan would never think you're weird in fact I think he likes you," Brookes frown has somehow transferred to a smirk.

"No he doesn't, he has a girlfriend. The she-devil, Claire," I don't know why Nathan is even with her. She's not even pretty and she bully's everyone. She has white blonde hair and wears it short and has pasty white skin. How could he like her?!

"Well they're not meant to be. They only just got together when Nathan moved here 4 weeks ago so maybe next year he'll notice the true witch she is and break up with her for you," I only dream of the words Brooke says.

"Enough about me, how are you and Taylor?" Taylor is Brooke's boyfriend she finally got together with a couple days ago after crushing over him for 2 months now.

"He's amazing! He brought me chocolates for lunch and flowers for my band performance..." Brooke goes on for the next five minutes about his blue eyes, brown hair, his smile, you get the jist. I stop in the hallway for a second. Brooke messes with her black hair to make sure her fishtail braid isn't coming aloose. She wears a flower crop tee and blue jeans shorts pulled at the ends to give it a scrappy but cute look.

"Well I'm glad you're happy cause that makes me happy. Now I have to go catch the bus so I can get home and pack. I'll text you when I get home," I say as I walk backwards toward the bus stop.

"Watch out!" Brooke screams but I don't hear her in time when BAM! I ram right into Nathan.

"I'm so sorry," I plead.

"No it's fine, I wasn't watching where I was going," he says, although I know it's my fault.

We stand awkwardly in the hallway for a second. "Um....So, what are you doing during the summer?" he asks.

"Nothin much, just you know, going on the usual cruise all families take....what about you? " I respond.

"Well since I just moved here my family and I want to stay here and check out the area," right before I can respond someone comes and interrupts.

"Um, sorry to interrupt but we have to leave to catch the bus," Claire says all giggly and holds on to Nathan's shoulder. No wonder he doesn't realize she's the devil, when ever she's around him she plays as a totally different person.

"Ok, well I hope to see you when you get back from your usual cruise trip families take," Nathan jokes.

"Yeah me too," I snicker and then both Nathan and Claire walk away when Claire quickly turns around and gives me a glare. She thinks she's amazing, the best thing that's ever come upon this planet but really she's one of the worst.

I quickly run out the school bus port door to try to catch my bus. Thankfully it's still there.
