Jack and Max were planning of beating the crap out of the next person to walk past the alleyway. Unluckily for them it was River.
"Oi, you!" Max yelled from the dark alleyway.
"What." River replied with a pissed off expression. She was on her way to one of her many fights and could not be late.
"Where do you think you're going?" Max had a smirk planted on his face but it disappeared with River's next statement.
"What's it to you, fart breath." River was already in a bad mood. She had to stay after school for detention, just because she got up from her seet to put a piece of paper in the bin.
Max then grabbed River's wrist, turning her around ,so that Jack could see her face, and deeper into the alley.
Jack is too shocked for words when seeing the face of an old friend from primary school. He couldn't move or say a word. The last time he saw River was when they were on there year 6 end of year trip. But saw drawn back to reality when his friend started talking.
"What did you just call me!?" Max still didn't know what he was getting himself into. River was the strongest person at her school and that was including the boys.
"I called you fart breath. Are you death or something?" River had almost lost it, one more idiotic statement from Max and she would snap.
"That's it!" Max tries to punch River in the face but his fist gets stopped by her hand instead.
"Do you really want to try me, dick head?"
"You're on shorty!" That's is, River had now snapped. No one who called River shorty and lives it tell a tale.
Max tries to take another puch but is blocked again. Grabbing his wrist, River twists his arm around his back until she hears a snap and kicks his stomach. Then pushing him to the floor.
"No one calls me shorty, alright." But it's not like he could hear her or anything because he had past out cold on hearing the sound of his arm snap.
River then turns her attention to the amazed Jack, who was too shocked for words.
"Oi, what you staring at?" River was still pissed at the face that she got called 'shorty'.
"U-um, I-it's Jack. You know, Jack from primary school. Long time no see right?" Jack said with a timid expression.
"So what." River really couldn't give a shit about the arrival of a old friend.
Jack gets cut off before he replies by the pressance of someone at the end of the alleyway.
"Hey, River! If you don't hurry up you'll be late for your fight." It was Ben, River's trans best friend.
"Fight?" Jack questioned.
"Yeah, you can come and watch if you really want."
Ben did not agree with this at all. Him and Jack had had an argunent about something about a year ago. Unlike River, Ben and Jack had kept in touch after going to different high schools. Jack was the one who helped Ben out when descovering he has trans. But something had ruined that friendship and they never saw each other again, until now.
Ignoring Ben's death glair he agreed to tag along, not knowing what else to to since his friend was unconscious on the floor. Soon enough they arrived at a small feild, round the back of the town. A group of 17 to 18 year olds had gathered, split into two groups at different ends of the field.
"So she finally decided to show up." Jason spoke up from one end of the field. Jason was your typical high school thug. Tall, well built and thought he was better than anyone else.
"So what if I'm late, you're still going to lose anyway." River knew this for a fact, she never loses a fight.
"You're going to pay for beating up my bro." Jason said pointing to the guy with bandages all over his body and a big purple bruse around his eye.
"In my defence, he was the one who challenged me." It way a well known fact that River never started a fight, she was the one to finish them.
"Shut your pie hole shorty." He was done for. There it was the one word that mad River snap.
"He's going to get it now." Rose said to Ben. Rose was River's other best friend, but not as close to River as Ben. Ben had known River since the age of 7, not once had they fallen out.
"Yep, he's as good as dead." Ben was slightly sorry for the oblivious Jason.
"I guess she really doesn't like that name." Jack spoke up for the first time once his arrival.
"You guessed correctly. But no offence, who are you." Rose asked confused.
"Jack, he went to are primary school." Ben replied bluntly.
"Thank god, I thought you had forgotten me bro." Jack said happily with a smile on his face.
"Don't call me that and pay attention to the fight, it's about to start."
Drawing their attention back to the fight, Jason had swung his fist towards River, only to get stopped by her hand. He then went for her legs, swinging his to make her trip up but she unexpectedly jumped up and dodging yet another attack.
"Is that the best you've got." River said with a smirk placed one her face.
"Hell, I'm just getting warmed u-."
Before he could finish his sentence, River had taken his out cold with one punch to the face.
"Sorry but maybe next time." But it was unlikely there was going to ever be a next time.
For extra measure, River took Jason's left arm and snapped it against her leg. "And that was for calling me shorty."
Jason's group of thugs rushed forward and dragged him away before she could do anything else. Turning around, River made her way back towards her group of friends who were celebrating her win. But suddenly one of the thugs ran up behind her, about to punch her in the face when Jack stepped forward and stopped the blow with his had. The thug retreated back to his friends, afraid of what might happen next.
"You're welcome." Jack said bluntly.
"Whatever."
