I pull close to my sweater around me, it's freezing outside. I had no idea it would be this cold today.
When I get home my mom has the news on. She never watches the news. She's on the phone with our neighbor a few doors down, Roxanne.
When she sees me she ended the call. There was a look of fear on her face, a look I don't see often.
She comes toward me welcoming me with a hug.
When she gets done telling me what happened, I had nothing to say.
I knew she was scared so I promised her, I would no longer take the long way home after school. I knew that as a mom that would make her feel good. Knowing that her child was safe.
But that feeling wouldn't stay for long.
I knew the girl that was missing. Her name was Haley Williams. Her mom was the local dentist. I was best friends with her sister Kelsey.
Haley was one of those drug hippies that was always to high to remember what she had for dinner that night.
Haley was only a year older than me, Im 17. I would always hang out with Kelsey, but not Haley. I still can't believe this is happening.
The only thing I could think of was Kelsey. Oh my Kelsey, I can't imagine what her and her parents are going through.
I got my mom to let me walk down there, but she only let me go if I had pepper spray in my bag.
When I got to Kelsey's lawn she had already opened the door and ran out to me. Her eyes were filled with tears.
She whispered lightly
"How am I supposed to feel? Perrie I'm so scared, not for me but for her".
I replied .......
"all we can do is wait for news".
I asked my mom if I could stay with her that night, since she only lives down the street mom said yes.
All we did that night was listen to the news, to her moms sobbing, and to the dad sighing and yelling on the phone.
He was talking to the police, angry at the world because his little girl was missing. People came by bringing gifts.
It's like she was dead, but no one wanted to say it. No one wanted to believe it.

The next day we went to school, well I did not Kelsey. Nobody talked. On the announcements the principle wanted the students to look for Haley, and if you had any information to contact the police ASAP.
When I got home I noticed somebody had moved in, the house next to us had lights on and a person was inside.
I asked my mom who it was, she said they bought the house a few days before. They were just never home. She said a man lived there, she had only seen a girl there that stopped by, but she doesn't think she lives with him.
I had piano and singing lessons that day. Mom said she would drop me off. I noticed the man that moved in next door there.
Kara, my piano and singing teacher said he started working here yesterday. He new stuff about pianos and he could work the desk and fix things.
