After my fight with my aunt today, I wasn't ready to talk to her. Instead, I wiped my cheeks from the tears and put on my shoes. I needed to talk to someone, like Tyler. He made me feel better. I mean, he wasn't mean, he didn't call me ugly or any other names. I closed my room door and crept down the stairs. I wanted to go past my Aunt Veronica and Freddy unnoticed .
I succeeded and shut the front door quietly. I ran over to Tyler's house and took a deep breath. I was actually knocking on someones front door. Someone who was nice, and not mean. I bit my lip and knocked on the door. After waiting a few minutes, I rang the doorbell. Then, Tyler's mom answered. "Hi" She greeted me. "Hello" I greeted her back. "Are you looking for Tyler?" she asked.
I nodded my head and she told me to come in. I stepped into their nicely furnished house. Their living rooms walls were green, an olive green. They had a dark green rug and cream colored sofas. I mean, I wish my house was like this. They even had family portraits. "Tyler!" yelled his mom. "Yeah?" he yelled back. "You've got a visitor!" I heard a thump upstairs and a slamming of a door and finally, footsteps on the stairs.
"Hey, Echo" he said with a smile. "Hi, Tyler" I said with an equally bright smile. "Whant to come to my room? To like, talk?" he asked nervously. "Sure." He led my up the stairs and through 2 hallways before finally entering his room. "Wow" I breathed. His room was giant. It had posters, pictures of him, his family, animals. "You like it?" he asked, his back turned to me. "Yeah, I mean, I wish my house was more like yours" I admitted.
"I like you house better, though. It's cozier, pretty, big-" I stopped him there. "Stop. My house is not big" I told him, grinning. "Sure, whatever you say, Echo" he said, grinning as well. I couldn't think of anything else to say so I just sat on his bed. Just then, a fat cat came trotting into his room. "Awe, who is this?" I asked, petting the cat. "Oh, him. That's Ham" said Tyler, looking through his drawers.
"That's a cute name" I told him. "Plus, he's adorable." "No he's not. He is just a fat cat that only likes me because I feed him slices of ham" he said, sitting down next to me. "Sure, whatever you say, Tyler" I said, quoting him from earlier. "You're a dick face" he told me, smiling. "Oh my gosh. You're a penis face" I told him, knowing that penis and dick meant the same thing.
"That's the same as dick" he told me, staring at me. "Yeah, yeah. Oh, and stop staring. It's rude" I said, picking up Ham. Tyler's hand touched mine as we both petted Ham. "Oh, sorry" said Tyler, cheeks pink. "It's okay" I assured him. He was about to say something when I'm guessing his sister, came rushing into his room.
"Tyler, Cecil is here" she said. "Oh, alright. Tell her I'll be right down" he said and got up. "Who's Cecil?" I asked. "She's my girlfriend" he replied. I nodded my head. "Oh." He already had a girlfriend? If only I had known. He is cute, to be fucking honest. Wait, what? He is just a friend. Okay. He's still cute.
"Yeah. Do you want to go, or?" He asked. "Um, yeah. I think I should go" I said, already standing up and walking towards the door. "Okay, see ya, Echo" he said with a small wave. I opened his door and was about to go down the stairs when I heard a "Psst" coming from the other end of the hallway. I guess my old neighbours were right. There were noises. "Listen, ghost, leave me alone or I'll bring salt" I said, scared.
"I'm not a fucking ghost, dumbass" it whispered. "Then what are you?" "I'm Taylor. Tyler's younger sister" she replied. "Ah. What do you want?" "Just c'mere" she said and came closer. I walked slowly over to her and she pulled my hand. She took me to her room and made me sit down. "I know your secret" she said, smiling.
I raised an eyebrow. "Yeah? What's my secret?" I asked her. "You have a crush on Tyler." Fuck. Wait, do I? "I'm leaving" I said and got up from her beanbag. "No, you're not. Stay" she said, glaring. I sighed and sat back down. "Now. When did you develop feelings for my hideous brother?" she asked, walking around with a pointer stick.
"Develop feelings? Listen, Taylor, I don't know if I have a crush on your brother" I told her, shaking my head. "Correction. You know you have feelings for my hideous brother" she said, grinning widley. "I can't do this" I told her. "Fine. You don't know, huh? Well. Let's test this out. Would you ever kiss Tyler?" Uh...I don't know" "It's a yes or no question." "Fine. Yes"
"Okay. Would you ever make out with him?" "These are disturning questions" I told her. "Fine. Listen, it's almost time for dinner. Meet me at the pond behind your house and we can talk more. Okay?" I nodded my head and opened her door. "Bye, Echo" she said with a wave and a smile. "Bye, Taylor."
