PROLOGUE

"Hey"
My neck ached from the burden of carrying a heavy bag on my head howbeit; experience has taught me to avoid private cars especially at night.
"We want to help."
A song came to my mind and I started humming it paying no attention to them. Men who have better things to occupy themselves with will not be tailing someone who does not require their help.
"Let her be." One of them said
The man driving the car came out, caught up with me and lifted the bag off my head.
"What is wrong with you? Do you think all men are the same or that we want to take advantage of you?"
I felt relieved after the bag was taken off my head but my decision to carry the bag home myself remained. I was only walking from the junction to my house down the street.
"My house is just two buildings away sir."
"I will help you with the bag until you get there."
I quietly led the way until we got to the gate of my school residence.
"Thank you sir" I said collecting my bag.
"You are welcome."
He turned and left.
Good men still exist. To find a man who will help a woman without expecting something in return is rare.

Two months later, a guest came looking for me at home.
"My name is David the man who assisted with your bag the other night."
"Oh" I said.
"I came to this neighborhood and decided to check up on you."
That is how it starts.
"That's very kind of you sir; thank you."
The visit persisted until we became friends.

Episode One

Standing in front of a full length wall mirror, I admired the beautiful overflowing dress which hugged my slim body; a mermaid wedding dress bought for me by aunty Tiwa. I looked like a fairytale princess; more so, the silver shoes housing my feet sparkled like a white sun.
"You Are A Goddess." Mum said.
Some friends had advised that it was best to marry a willing, capable and responsible man. Out of fear of the unknown, patience was born. The waiting was long but I finally got my heart's desire.

"My heart is overwhelmed with joy" I said to my elder sister Funke
"It is normal" she responded smiling as she walked out of the room.
Maybe, maybe not... Deep within, I knew that it was not just "a wedding day" elation. The euphoria of a day that was to be my last as a single lady made my stomach tingle!

He is a complete package.

The thought of being married to him made me want to jump - but for the long dress. I smiled into the mirror, took a deep breath and sat again to imagine what it will be like to wake up every morning beside David. My heart bubbled with excitement as my sister came to remind me for the second time
"The driver is ready"

I walked elegantly into the car alongside my proud parents who have been joyful since the night David proposed to me. My family supported our relationship from the start because David has a charming personality. His elder sister aunty Tiwa who resides in the states also seemed to like me a lot even without any physical contact: his mother took me as her daughter almost immediately and we bonded well.
