"Cal, I'm gonna be single forever."
"No, you're not. Stop being dramatic."
Louis sighed before downing the last of his drink, "Then why'd Zack break up with me? He's like the fifth guy to do that this year! Why does no one want to date me?"
"Lou, anyone would be lucky to date you. Those guys just weren't the right guys," Calvin paused. "In fact, I'll bet you twenty pounds that anyone you ask out here will say yes."
Louis shrugged, "I'm desperate enough. And I could use the cash. Pick a guy."
Calvin took a sip of his beer while glancing around the bar, "Give me a chance to find a good looking bloke. One that'll make you forget all about Zeke."
"It's Zack."
"Yeah, yeah. Whatever."
Louis rolled his eyes and turned his body back towards the bar, waving his hand to get the attention of the bar tender.
While he was busy ordering another round, Calvin's eyes were lighting up as he found the perfect man for his friend.
He slapped Louis' arm, "I found 'im."
Louis put on his best interested face, "Oh yeah? Where is he?"
Calvin pointed to a man who had his hair up in a bun, black jeans that had to have been painted on, and his face hidden behind a book.
Louis looked at his friend like he had two heads, "Him? Out of all the people here, you had to pick the one that was reading?"
Calvin shrugged, "He's outside of the type you usually go out with. I figured after five failed relationships a change would be nice."
"Fine," he grumbled, "I'll ask him out, but only for the twenty quid."
"That's not the attitude you should be having. You should be want to be out twenty by the end of the night. Have a little confidence."
"He's not exactly my type. I'm not really a reading person."
Calvin waved his hand as a sign that he should just go over, ask the guy out, and get it over with.
Louis took one more sip of liquid courage before he was on his way to the last booth in the very back of the slightly crowded bar. He slid into the seat across from the man and waited.
And waited.
And waited. Damn that book must've been good.
Finally fed up with waiting for the long haired bloke to look up and become aware of his presence, Louis lightly pushed to book down.
The man looked up in shock, clearly not taking any notice of Louis sitting across from him before.
He slowly placed his bookmark into the book and raised his eyebrow in question.
Now able to see his face, Louis was mesmerized. The bookworm was hot. Like really, really hot.
The booming music that was pulsing overhead seemed to all but fade away as the barely there light reflected off the bookworm's emerald eyes and casted shadows under his perfectly chiseled jawline and his full, pink lips.
"Can I help you?"
The stranger's voice just made Louis swoon more, but the hand waving in front of his face definitely made him snap out of his trance. "What?"
"I said, can I help you?" the green eyed stranger asked.
"Oh, um, I don't know maybe? Well, um, I just wanted to ask you if you'd like to, I don't know, go out sometime, with me, maybe?" Louis had never sounded more flustered in his life.
"On a date?"
"Yeah? Unless you aren't, you know, gay or whatever. That'd be fine."
"You do know this is a gay bar, right? And, I don't know you, but sure, I guess."
"Yes?" Louis was shocked.
"Yeah, you're cute. Now can I get back to my book?"
And if Louis bailed on Calvin and just watched the extremely hot bookworm read, no one had to know.
He didn't even mind that he was out twenty quid.
