Crina looked at the bloodied man lying on the bed trying to hold in her emotions. Her face no doubt was emotionless but inside it felt like her heart was being ripped out of her chest. Though the woman would never admit it out loud she had grown feelings for her second in command but in her profession having feelings and emotions meant that you had something to lose. Crina didn't want anything to hold her back so the less affections she held or showed the better. But right now she could tell that she did not listen to her own advice.

The woman killed people for a living, blood was an everyday occurrence. But seeing the blood all over Nic was making her feel lightheaded.

"He's fine." The doctor said as he examined Nic. "He was only knocked out, mild concussion. He only has one wound and that's on his head from the force of the object and a bullet wound on his shoulder. Most of this blood elsewhere isn't his."

Mentally, she let out a sigh of relief as she sat down on the chair next to the bed. Nic's mission had been a success like she knew it would be but there was the fact that he was injured. The woman didn't like this feeling of hopelessness as she eyed the man that she held strong affections for. It was wrong for a boss to hold such feelings for a worker but she couldn't help it. It might have been from all the times they they were together that she let him hold a piece of herself.

The last thing she wanted to happen was for this man to be stuck in this life, she needed to get him out. She didn't want to brainwash or manipulate him because she knew about his past. How he was born into a bad family with bad intentions. Nic was bred to kill people and though that they had trained him to kill when his name was said. His name was a curse to him, something that he didn't like to hear, something that brought him back to when he as forced to kill people, innocent or not. Nic was otherwise a good man.

Crina wanted more for Nic than this life. More than following orders and killing people like she was. He deserved a better life; to forget every bad thing brought onto him.

Running her hand along his face, she traced his jawline. His normally clean shaven face was bloody with days old stubble that pricked at her hand. The only way to make sure Nic had a wonderful life was something that was unstoppable. It was one last brainwash. Her hand trailed down his neck to the gauze covering the bullet wound. It wasn't bleeding through yet but she knew in a few minutes it would.

Once Crina made up her mind she felt numb. She pulled back her hand like he burned her when in reality she was burning him. Suddenly feeling numb she stood up from the plush red chair. Without sparing Nic another look Crina left the room stone faced.

As Crina passed by everyone else she felt a piece of her soul shadder. Nic's team was easy to pick out seeing as they were covered in dirt and blood.

"Crina!" Luca called but Crina ignored him, walking passed him. Conversing with people was the furthest thing on her mind. She wanted to scream, throw a fit but she wished Nic didn't get hurt. It was true in this line of work getting injured was a given but Nic was so close to being shot in the heart. Crina didn't know what she was going to do if he suddenly died.

When Crina made it to her room she locked the door.

"Fuck!" She screamed, throwing everything onto the floor. She swiped at the shelves and pictures of her mom and dad. Crina screamed and screamed, thankful that her room was the only one on this side of the mansion but she was sure that others could hear her. First Gheorghe and now Nic. Granted Gheorghe was a piece of shit and Nic was the opposite. Crina was being selfish, she was being reckless and impulsive about this but she didn't want to change her mind.

"Mihail." She said quietly. The door cracked open but no one peered though. "Make preparations, blue forty-five. Nic. Make sure he's happy." Her voice wavered but not much. "When it's done report to me. Then make preparations to be my second."

With those words said the door closed so Crina was left alone again. Times like these the woman wished that she was normal. That she was naive enough to trust and make friends that could be life long, go to college, meet a boy or a girl that could make her heart sing with happiness. She wished she lived a normal life, got married, children by the boatload and maybe a pet or two. Crina wanted to blend in with society, she didn't want to be the odd one out.

Crina opened her untouched liquor cabinet and opened it, bottle upon bottles greeting her. Drinking didn't solve anything but the woman currently wanted to forget. She was going to be losing Nic and she didn't have the chance to say goodbye.
